Gonzales Directly Contradicts Himself

Alberto Gonzales gave NBC's Pete Williams an exclusive interview yesterday — shockingly, considering he bailed early on a press conference in Chicago Tuesday to avoid any purge questions — yet ended up directly contradicting himself about the purge. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/17801927/

How do these two statements square?:

"I was not involved in the deliberations over whether or not the US attorneys should resign…"

"I know why I asked these United States attorneys to leave and it was not for improper reasons…"

3. They don't square in two dimensions; you need to introduce the 4th dimension
and possibly the 5th.

7. If someone else came up with the reasons, told him what the reasons
were and asked him to fire the prosecutors there's no contradiction.

8. IMHO, he's trying to weasel out of having made the decision (not in the "deliberations"),

but afterwards merely did what he was told to do ("asked (them)to leave"), telling both himself and now interviewers that he had/has no reason to think that the reasons-determined-by-others-prior-to-his-actions were "improper". He was TOLD the "reasons" ("I know why I asked").

IOW, Gonzo is humiliating himself by claiming lackey status in order to escape criminal status.

9. Very lawyerly of him: "I didn't deliberate the actions." True, if deliberation means sitting in on
tactical sessions. No, Alberto, you just kept abreast of the deliberations and then signed off on them.

Just as when my little brother boosted the cable from the neighbors: I could say without fear of lying under oath, had I been hauled into Cable Court, "I did not boost that cable. I do not know exactly when it was done." All true, all I did was buy the splitter and get the ladder, then had to leave for a class when he (presumably) did the deed. I came home, there was cable, the splitter was gone and the ladder returned. Of course, he had called me from home to my cell phone at my usual lunch hour and told me what he had done, but I don't need to add all that to the Cable Police and Court, now do I?

All I knew is that I had HBO and SHO along with Bravo for 2 years. . . and isn't that what is important?
