McCain ignores the incredible violence against Shiite pilgrims during Ashura, in which hundreds were massacred, mostly outside Baghdad. That is, concentrating on Baghdad is a fallacy. The indications are that the guerrillas are compensating for the higher cost of their operations in Baghdad by shifting some their activities to other cities, such as Baquba and Tal Afar. But they have by no means given up the fight in Baghdad itself, as anyone who followed violence there could tell you.

to see him as a good conservative--the Repug party now boils down to two issues: War, and Loyalty. He will embrace both the war and Bush (again--ick!) and ride them all the way to defeat.

4. I sometimes wonder if McCain isn't being DELIBERATELY loony and incorrect.

It could be an attempt to make other Repubs appear
more sane and rational by comparison. Another way
to fall on his sword for his beloved Leader.

You gotta admit, he -is- making some other Repubs
look sane in comparison!

But then I think, "Naaaaah. He's just REALLY a clueless moran."

And THEN I think, "Why would it have to be one or the other? He
could be a clueless moran who's reading from a WH script."

I get nowhere.
