French & Russian News Reports US Will Attack Iran In Next 10 Days
<snip>General Ivashov Calls for Emergency Session of US Security Council to Ward Off Looming us Aggression

The long awaited US military attack on Iran is now on track for the first week of April, specifically for 4 AM on April 6, the Good Friday opening of Easter weekend, writes the well-known Russian journalist Andrei Uglanov in the Moscow weekly “Argumenty Nedeli.” Uglanov cites Russian military experts close to the Russian General Staff for his account.

The attack is slated to last for twelve hours, according to Uglanov, lasting from 4 AM until 4 PM local time. Friday is a holiday in Iran. In the course of the attack, code named Operation Bite, about 20 targets are marked for bombing; the list includes uranium enrichment facilities, research centers, and laboratories.

2. They even know the hour and duration, huh?
These must be the same guys that assured Tenet, Cheney and Bush that
Saddam's WMD were a slam dunk.

"Argumenty Nedeli," eh? "Arguments of the week"
I'd like a look at their issue for the second week of April,
when no attack has taken place. Maybe they'll have a special
edition called "Argumenty proshloi nedeli...."

3. I'm hoping this is wrong...
The saber rattling is getting worse, and if something doesn't stop this mess, we very well might attack Iran later this year, but I think April 6th is too soon. Bush still needs time to conduct "diplomacy" (John Bolton style) and ram through some bogus justifications before he can drop bombs without too much blowback.

5. bush has nothing to lose and everything to gain. The only blowback that means
anything at all is impeachment.

11. Granted, Bush doesn't think ahead at all...
Bush isn't a chess player, so this isn't going through his brain. If we were to attack Iran, sure, we could get a few nuclear sites, but we'd be unable to touch the good nuclear sites where all the weapons development is taking place, because that stuff is now deep underground. We'll probably kill lots of civilians, especially if Chimpy's stupid enough to use tactical nukes.

Iran's retaliation and the repercussions is what Bush isn't thinking about. Iran will start launching its Exocets and Sunburns. The U.S. will be unable to stop Iran from doing this - as the Exocets are on mobile truck launchers, hiding in the desert and practicing "shoot-and-scoot" tactics. The engagement will be reminiscent of the Great Scud Hunt of the first Gulf War except for one thing. While Scuds are useless except as terror weapons because they can't hit the broad side of a barn, Exocets and Sunburns are deadly. They will be able to sink ships at will with these missiles. Oil shipments will grind to a halt, as Iran will target tankers to cut off the U.S.'s supply of oil, and there's no way they can fend off Exocets. U.S. warships will be able to fend off Exocets if their crews are on the ball, but they won't be able to fend off Sunburns - those missiles were purpose-designed to defeat Aegis missile defenses and sink U.S. warships. The U.S. will probably be forced to keep its warships out of the Persian Gulf altogether, and keep them out in the Indian Ocean, at a respectful distance, out of Sunburn range.

Essentially, that means most of the Middle East oil will be stuck in the Middle East, unable to be shipped to the U.S. Gas prices will very quickly rise to $7.00 - $8.00 per gallon, and will stay there. We'll see gas lines, rationing, and the economy will suddenly go into a steep tailspin. This will continue until Bush is finally forced to cry uncle and negotiate a settlement with Iran. By then, it will be too late. Lots of people will have already lost their jobs, lost their homes, and the economy will be in the toilet for years.

This is where Bush would experience blowback. With the economy at its worst since the Great Depression, people will be demanding Bush's head on a platter, and the outcry will be so huge that they very well might get it. Assuming there isn't so much unrest that Bush and Cheney delcare martial law and become dictators, in which case we see the second American Civil War.

4. not enough
codpiece swaggering rhetoric coming out of bush's mouth...

all he's been doing is yammering about switchgrass - we gonna throw hay at the iranians?

he has an "talking point" with the capture of british sailors - that could be tailor-spun into "These brave sailors are our allies, we'd be a poor friend if we abandoned them in their time of need. What if it had been American that were captured, England would come help us gain their release no matter what it took....."

I do believe it was part of the overall middle-east plan, axis-of-evil and all, but I think part deux-invasion Iran has been put on hold

7. Could That Be Why The Iranians Captured The Brits?......
Think about this - if the Iranians believe the French & Russians - what a better way to buy some insurance than to capture some military and place them around Iran in all of the major targets that they believe would be destroyed if an attack did take place on April 6th.

Now Tony Blair would have to put pressure on * to prevent the attack for fear his countrymen would get killed.

Just a thought.

9. Do The Decider and Crashcart really think...
that they'd be able to get away with starting what could well turn into World War "Mideast Style" - on EASTER weekend? It has apocalypse written all over it. This is not good.

10. Yeah, 12 hours of bombing Iran, then stop so they can retaliate?
Once the bombing starts, it is not going to stop until Iran's ability to retaliate has been virtually wiped out(along with huge losses of human life and infrastructure that makes life sustainable in Iran).
