US 'no longer technology king'
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/6502725.stm?lsf

The US has lost its position as the world's primary engine of technology innovation, according to a report by the World Economic Forum.

The US is now ranked seventh in the body's league table measuring the impact of technology on the development of nations.

A deterioration of the political and regulatory environment in the US prompted the fall, the report said.

The top spot went for the first time to Denmark, followed by Sweden.

4. I don't think that's the case
From the source article:

"While countries from Asia and the Pacific continued to progress, the powerhouse economies of China and India both showed a downward trend.

India was four positions down on last year to 44th, suffering from weak infrastructure and a very low level of individual usage of personal computers and the internet.

China was knocked to 59th place, nine positions down, with information technology uptake in Chinese firms lagging."

If it was due to outsourcing, it would be expected that India, China, and other Southeastern Asian nations to whom services are outsourced would be showing an upward trend in the index, not downward. I think it has more to do with the federal, state, and local gov'ts not investing enough money into technologies designed to streamline gov't services and those that make it easier and less costly for the average citizen to have high speed interent access.

5. Oh it's definitely the case. Without any doubt whatsoever.
It's killing training and the creation of new and better engineers in the states. And that kills innovation.

6. There's a big divide
There is a big divide between the majority of India's population and the segment of that population that composes the tech firms.

2. Seems like the only thing we do
excel in is military spending. Now that he has all but ruined the military what good will that do. Six years and he destroyed our country.
