Report: Is Best Buy refusing to match prices?
Source: CNET

Web site HDGuru.com has published a report describing three separate visits to Best Buy locations where salespeople refused to comply with the store's own price-matching policy.

The report goes on to provide advice to customers interested in obtaining a price match themselves. Here's the meat of the HDGuru's exchange:

When asked to match the price, salesmen at all three stores said, "no," giving the same excuse: "The advertised Panasonic was on sale for three days, and Best Buy's price-match policy exempts limited-time sales."

However, there is no "limited time" exemption in Best Buy's price-match policy. Store personnel simply made up a phony excuse or were instructed to do so by higher-ups....

Why match prices when you have so little competition?

2. Is any sale not "limited time"?
Sounds like they're claiming that they only match non-sale prices, which of course doesn't benefit the consumer at all.

3. Twice in the past we've gotten blown off on price matches
It's one of the main reasons why we don't buy at *best buys* -- because they bullshit the customers.

5. Once I asked if they would match a price I found on newegg.com...
The associate didn't even know what newegg was, so she called for a manager.

The manager basically told me in a polite manner "Get outta here, are you fucking nuts!"

8. Same here
When I bought a Panasonic TV back in December - I showed them prices from other companies, some about 200 dollars cheaper - They came back and said that they couldn't give me that price because it was the same price that employees got with their discount. Go figure, but they don't follow to the price-matching policy as stated above.
