Recycled sewage struggles with yuk factor
One day, when you read on a drink bottle "this water has been passed by the minister of health," the message may be open to interpretation in more ways than one. Skip related content

To a corps of hydrologists, the only way that parched regions of the world can meet the surging demand for water is to recycle -- and use -- the stuff that has already been through the human body.

Rather than throwing away water that results from treating urine, faeces and bathwater, the valuable liquid can be harnessed once more, they say.

It could go not just for farm irrigation or industry -- as is already widely the case in many countries -- but also for drinking water.

We could all land up like the Fremen in Dune.

1. Every molecule of H2O that anyone, anywhere, has consumed
has made contact with untold millions of noxious substances over the millennia, and yet it remains H2O and perfectly safe to consume. As long as water reclamation/purification is done properly, there is NOTHING wrong with it. Heck, reclaimed water is probably SAFER than most well water and surface water in the world.

I guess treated sewage is a lot less scary to those of us who have actually studied the microbiology of water and sewage at the university level........

Water that becomes contaminated is not permanently ruined anymore than a female dog who is bred to a mutt once.

2. Just so long as they're serious about recyling and cleansing the water
And not just "going through the movements."

Thank you. I'll be here all week.
