EDIT: I haven't had a chance to listen to it yet, so I have no comment. But I will say that I'm sad I wasn't able to attend the event live.

I had to make a hospital visit in Dekalb today, so listened to WCPT on the way up and back. Heard him talking about the debate. I wish I could've been there. I'd love to hear from anyone who was there.

I love Thom Hartmann and he is doing well as usual, but the lying pill, Medved, is distorting the truth too much for me.

He's perpetrating all the right wing myths about national health coverage.

When he asks if we want our money to pay for our neighbor's care-- yes I do. I'd much rather pay for my neighbor's health care than for a war of choice against an enemy who golly gee turned out not to have any weapons of mass destruction.

Would I prefer to pay to bail out thieves who made billions for themselves selling financial products they knew were inflated or pay for universal health care coverage?

I want to say it's about the last 10 minutes or so of the podcast. The contrast between the two men couldn't be more stark, in both tone and substance.

But the contrast is stark throughout.

I know what kind of idiot Medved is. I read his "movie reviews" that pushed the Reagan/Bush/Bush II line. I read his ridicule of artists. I listened...ONCE...when the Catholic Church paid for him to take the place of Siskel and Ebert on PBS's movie review show. That was enough.

So, either post in print some choice tidbits from this TV wrestling contest, or shut up about it. I refuse to punish my ears, even for the supposed ten-minute conclusion.

You were asked to post IN TEXT some of this crap that Medved said. You handed me an old video piece about Billo the Clown. Medved may be part of the same club, but he is not O'Reilly.

Now either sit down and transcribe in text some of what Medved said - and yes, it's painful, but you already suffered through it so it can't be too bad - or go back to sleep and accept your failing grade.

Consider yourself lucky that I'm not an American public school teacher, or you would have gotten sexual assault and physical beating along with your failing grade.

I'll never understand the drive-by internet assholes. People with Big Cyber-Balls who think they can be jerks and bully around strangers (being incredibly and UNNECESSARILY rude) because there is no face to face interaction.

They makes huge asses of themselves to 90% of the people who come across their unwarranted insults, but I guess they don't realize it or don't care. Not that YOU fall into that category of course.

You claim this Medved piece is important. Nobody has given a single printed word indicating it was more than the typical right-wing rant and the typical weak progressive rebuttal. Nothing to make me waste my sleep time looking at the damn disgusting thing.

No one wants to stand up and deliver. That's pretty typical of DU posters. (All those message headers saying "Read this, it's important!" are good examples of the same deceptive crap.)

And if you're not grouchy, you haven't paid much attention to the world.

Show me anything remotely deceptive? I posted a link to the debate and noted I hadn't listened to it yet. Then I simply suggested (to those turned off by Medved) that they listen to one outrageous thing he said, possibly the most outrageous. I didn't want to give a spoiler and I don't get paid for this so sorry, no time for me to type up a transcript (how ridiculous is that?).

Then I made ONE more suggestion, and that was to jump to the last 10 minutes for the closing statements, because I thought it summed up the tone and contrast of the two men in the debate. I never said anything about "important" and I'm confident that Thom Hartmann fans appreciate the fact that I created this thread.

On an unrelated note, some just like to inflame and insult people. They have no desire for good debate and discussion.

There's really no reason to waste time and energy on arrogant, draining, mean spirited people who try to tear down others (unprovoked with no justification) to make themselves feel better. The more they try, the more miserable they must be. This has NOTHING to do with you of course.

I'm not saying anything, I'm just sayin'.
