Disabled Vet Called Up for Iraq Tour
Disabled Vet Called Up for Iraq Tour
March 20, 2009
Knight Ridder/Tribune

OTTUMWA, Iowa -- Newlywed Jeremy Scott of Ottumwa is listed with Veterans Affairs as a disabled veteran. The Army wants him back in uniform.

"We got married in December (near) Cancun," said the former infantryman. "When we got back, I was checking the mail and saw something (from) the Department of Defense. I got orders."

The orders say he's to report to Fort Benning, Ga. in less than a week. He's to ship out with a Pennsylvania National Guard unit on their way to Iraq.

"People I've never trained with, never even met," Scott said. "I don't understand why they would try to bring someone back who is listed as disabled."

It's not that he's afraid to go to the Middle East, he said.

Both of the meat grinders need bodies.

1. end the illegal occupations entirely... not months from now, but now.
They do nothing but sow death and destruction and sorrow.

"They are not."
No! They aren't. Just reading this week that STOP LOSS won't even end until 12 months later than Obama predicted the conflict would!! 2011!!

It's astonishing. We voted to Bring Them Home.

6. What exactly is his disability?
It's curious that it is not mentioned in the article. I imagine it is possible that the military has altered its definition of whatever it means to be unfit to serve or they feel he might be rehabilitated. At any rate he can report to a military medical facility and have himself evaluated and get a quick resolution to this.
