during his campaign against John Kerry, I for one, am just relieved that the media is all over Obama's use of a (gasp!) teleprompter.

No one could say they're asleep at the switch, no siree Bob. And they are always just looking out for us, aren't they? They always cut like a razor to the really important stuff that affects us all. Like using teleprompters. Like they do. Every day. All the time.

I'm old enough to remember Edward R. Murrow - I was little, but precocious - and I find this current bunch of "journalists" shameful frauds who should cough up their paychecks to charity every damn week. Incompetents at best, who haven't a clue as to what to do with this brilliant, articulate, graceful, take-no-prisoners President.

He's forcing them to work to rise up to his level. I doubt any of them can do it.

If you want a really lovely compilation of how bad this current crop of pretenders is, I highly recommend a book called "So Wrong For So Long," by Greg Mitchell, the editor of Editor and Publisher. He does a masterful job of showing how the media was in collusion with the White House to invade Iraq under false pretenses. It's a bracing and horrifying read, but a necessary one.

She wasn't surprised, since she knew what was coming, but she was a bit taken by surprise.

She sent him a postcard - to his office - so that it had to go through lots of hands (and eyes) before it reached him.

It read:

"Dear Larry,

I thought you should know that some asshole is sending legal documents through the mail and signing your name to them.

I hope you catch the sonofabitch."

Think something like that might enlighten them?

My friend got an anonymous letter in the mail ( with an obscure and far away postmark) that said "Your husband is having an affair with *******. We all know it and feel bad for you and thought you would like to know."

The letter named a co-worker of the husband and seemed to obviously to be generated within the workplace. My friend was very excited about the letter- "An anonymous letter! Accusing my husband of having an affair! When every single second of the poor guy's life is accounted for!"

Honestly, unless they were having 3 minute trysts under a desk, it just wasn't happening. She shared the letter with her husband -"Honey! Look at what we got!". He took it to work and posted it on the employee bulletin board with a note that said - "Thanks! My wife really enjoyed getting this." Which actually was true. As to the obscure postmark - some recognized it as being the place where a certain person had mentioned just recently that they had had missed the opportunity to go there gratis with a friend. Nailed.

Well done.

It takes a certain, and special, kind of person to pull that sort of crap. Ugly, and for what? I bet the sender had designs on the husband, or something equally twisted.

Good for the couple. It's lovely to see trust, real trust, in action..........
