All of these auto workers who are against President Obama's plan
Edited on Tue Mar-31-09 08:48 AM by dem629
should quit. Stand by your principles. If you don't like the way they're going to try to save your job, if you're like the guys on TV last night saying they were looking for razor blades to scrape the Obama stickers off their car, that's fine, just quit. Become unemployed today.

Any takers?

This reminds me of a scene from the Seinfeld finale, where George and Jerry are talking to a programming executive (Kimbrough) from NBC about doing a TV show and George objects to the executive's idea for the show...

Kimbrough: What I want to do is put it on the air. 13-episode commitment. Start it off on Wednesday night, build up an audience. And Elaine - I wouldn't mind seeing something happening between you two.

Jerry: Definitely.

George: I tell you, I really don't think so-called relationship humor is what this show is all about.

Kimbrough: Or we could not do the show altogether, how about that?

4. It's the only game in town.
So, pretty much...yeah.

Or we could just do nothing and they'll have the whole summer off. And the fall, too. Oh, and the winter, and next spring....

2. I don't understand
this love of management. Wagoner should be put in stocks outside the RenCen and the workers should be allowed to throw tomatoes at him.

6. No defense of Wagoner here.
I agree with President Obama's plan, which apparently included getting Wagoner out of there.

9. When it's the only plan, and the detractors offer no alternative, yep!
No problem doing it.

8. yes, the workers should be grateful
that wall street CEOs dont have to suffer as they do. the workers should thank their lucky stars that every admin that passes through the WH is beholden to big business and corporate donations. the workers should be willing to work for 2 dollars an hour. the workers should eat dirt cookies like they do in Haiti. the workers should just stfu and accept their fate like good little serfs. oh, those damned unions, who demand a fair wage, why cant they just be happy with dirt cookies and ramen noodles? why cant they just live in little shacks or tents and be content with 20 cents a day and 80 hr work weeks? corporate CEOs and the politicians they own beg you workers to reconsider your lot. please get used to 3rd world conditions and they might throw in a blanket covered in smallpox as a bonus to keep you warm at night.

11. "All of these auto workers" are America's manufacturing BACKBONE.
The ripple effects of this will
see the entire nation plunged into
depression.

Don't say people weren't warned.

Shit-sandwiches have been served.

I'm glad you're OK with the "choice"
of eating shit or starving that you
are proposing here.

13. I singled out the ones who oppose our President.
I'm sure there are some who still support him, even if they have to remain silent because of pressure.

17. Henry Freakin' Ford...
the most rapacious Capitalist of them all, understood that the workers in his plants needed to make enough money to afford to buy the product they built.

Even my own kid ventured the opinion that Unions need to scale back their demands. I gently reminded him that his Grandfather went to work more than a few times expecting to fight - and I mean physically - for his pay.

It is not necessary for all the workers in the world to be paid at Malaysia scale.

19. I feel like I'm taking crazy pills....

I hear this crap here in MICHIGAN!

People either DON'T THINK, or they
are actively STUPID to think that
we can have an economy that is based
on the entire population just selling
cell phone plans to each other.

We need to MAKE something for people
to ACTUALLY INVEST in!

These "bubbles" have set the stage for
massive rip-offs.

We have been ROBBED.

12. No mention of health care costs and its affect on our automakers' competitiveness
And no mention of providing health care benefits for those who are sure to be terminated during this automobile market implosion in Obama's prepared remarks. More uncertainty for the public--no wonder the stock market plunged yesterday. Consumers will stay anxious and not spend.
