Vampire Panic at the Boston Latin School
Final Edit: This whole story was basically blown out of proportion. A few students believed they were vampires. One student may have bit another student in the neck. The Boston Police were called in Wednesday for a supposedly “unrelated matter” (Boston Globe), which fueled rumors. To conclude, 99.9% of the Boston Latin School student population does not believe in vampires. The students at Boston Latin School are some of the brightest in the world, the administration on the other hand could have handled this situation much better. In either case, Sumus Primi!

The Boston Channel.com reports:

“Supposedly 3 students believe that they are vampires and today when a student was bitten the police were informed,” wrote one student in a message to TheBostonChannel.com. “I heard that one girl was arrested another suspended.”

End Edit.

The headmaster at the Boston Latin School recently sent out a notice to students and parents alerting them that there are no vampires at Boston Latin after a rumor spread through the school of vampires roaming the halls. The Boston Globe reports:

A school administrator wants to set the record straight: There are no vampires at Boston Latin.

The headmaster of the prestigious exam school took the unusual step today of sending a notice to faculty, students, and parents saying that “rumors involving ‘vampires’” had begun spreading through the building Wednesday, causing disruption and anxiety for a number of students.

Lynne Mooney Teta asked everyone’s help in calming the school community down.

1. ROFLMAO!!! "There are no vampires at (fill-in-the-blank)."
Some denials are better than the rumors.

11. First time I watched it!!
I never seen South Park til that episode. My daughter, 19 now went through that whole Goth/ vampire thing maybe 7th- Sophomore year. When I seen the episode I died. Funny!!!!!
She happened to clean out her clothes from that time, (leaving for college) and came in the kitchen and asked me "What was I thinking? How come nobody told me, how dumb I looked?"
I did but she just wasn't listening, and I like to pick my battles.

15. I never laughed so hard!
As at that episode of South Park. I think it's because I had just chased a crazy lady off another forum because she kept insisting she was a vampire.

She emailed me THREE pages of crazy - what vampires are and how a person knows they're a vampire. My favorite part, where she says vampires don't have to bathe:

19. Contrary to belief vampires are not allergic to garlic, crosses, This is not uncommon at all.
holy water, sunlight, or churches. Real vampires usually do not sweat
alot, do not like water much to drink that is, and smell freakishly
nice even if they do not bath for a couple of days (but bathing daily is a good thing).
what I mean by that is that a real vampire sometimes could not
shower for weeks on end and any normal person would be funky as hell
but a vampire might smell like flowers or have very little body odor.
Although most vampires like to have good hygeine; if put under
conditions were this is not possible it is amazing how long it takes
them to really start smelling bad compared to mundane humans. Real vampires do not smell like dead people. Also
vampire familiars might smell like flowers too.

10. If students are going around biting other students...

... or drinking blood, then they would not be supernatural vampires, but they would still be defined as vampires by the today's neo-vampires.

There are lots of weird people out there. C'est la vie!
