over the immediate next 10 years, it's probably financial collapse. Over the next 50 years, it will be climate change.

12. The closest thing to "fixing" it would be...
a) re-regulating the financial industry, world wide or at the very least here in the U.S.

b) reestablishing accountability. in other words, firing the banksters who were responsible for the de-regulation and bad behavior in the first place.

I'm no longer sure how that happens. Our government still seems to be in thrall to said banksters.

Trace every choice in the poll to its origin and there we are.

WE elect the politicians.

WE determine what the media feeds us.

WE consume more than we make on a regular basis.

...and WE choose to remain willfully ignorant because we insist on having everything spoon-fed to us. We don't want to make decisions, we want to be told what to think.

Until that changes, nothing else will.

16. Sadly, I disagree.
I think the actual transactions of power in this country have completely excluded we the people for a very long time now.

We are allowed to play the "democracy" game once in awhile, but it really makes no difference and certainly brings about no substantive change.

That said, though, most of "the people's" votes over the last generation have been excruciatingly stupid.
