2. Really, they are adding nothing but face time for the city, state and
federal officials to show they are doing something...

3. What I don't quite understand though...
is why the police chief says that they are not 100% sure that the shooter is amongst the dead. If there is a chance that the shooter is not dead, how can they say this thing is indeed over?

I don't quite get it.

9. All I know is the chief is saying they "believe" the shooter is dead.
Since they just believe that and don't know, who else could possibly be the shooter? Did he escape? Is it one of the people they initially detained?

If they don't know 100%, then are they not concerned the shooter is still out there?

I think I need to quit watching this press conference and wait til later when they know for sure... otherwise, I'll continue to use logic to try to understand what they are saying.

8. They are just being cautious and prudent until they are 100% sure
as the police chief said, they don't want to give a name and then have that person turn out to be a victim and not the shooter.

What's the rush anyway? If they weren't sure, yes, they would be out there still looking. It's just a matter of triple checking so that there is a zero chance of ruining a life and reputation. Especially given that every news organization in the country will soon be hounding the family members of the shooter.

10. What do you mean, what's the rush?
I'm not saying they need to identify the shooter immediately, but they already let the parents of the students in that high school come and pick up their kids because they said everything was safe.

Yet, the chief essentially says they don't know 100% that the shooter is not still at large (in fact, he just said they don't know for sure there's no accomplices, so why would they give the all clear?

4. Really, the only people who should speak are the police and maybe the mayor.
That's it. Why is the governor there?

6. well if the governor didn't show there would be a media firestorm
most people just expect the governor to be at these sorts of tragedies, even if there isn't much for him to do

It's also a very big tragedy and in area accessible to Albany.

If he wasn't there, can you imagine what people would have to say.

I think it's one of those damned if you do, damned if you don't scenarios.

And no, I'm not a fan of Patterson.
