My spiritual awakening: I will no longer give a rat's fucking ass about what ANY conservative
or republican thinks and/or says. They no longer matter to me (not that they ever did), in fact, they are now dead to me.

I will not allow them to anger me, upset me, or ruin my day in any way. Their bumper stickers and yards signs will be invisible to me. Their criticisms of Obama will slide off my back (sorta like a duck's!!!.)

The only time I will take notice is when a democrat/republican such as Sen. Ben Nelson votes against something democrats believe are in the best interest of the American People.

I will no longer click on threads having to do with a cigar smoking He Who Shall Not Be Named pig man and several other "wastes of my time" comedians or talk show hosts.

Today I realized I am totally exhausted considering the opinions of pig men and pig women, so now I am done. I do not want to hear the other side. I am done.

2. They are exhausting, Gray.

And with few exceptions, a huge waste of time and energy.

I still like to see them get caught lying, red faced and all.

But it never seems to stop them, does it?

They feed on attention,
and the best way to starve these fuckers is to ignore them.

We maintain and we do our best and we make sure we protect ourselves, but reading about them, or even acknowledging their existence, yeah, that's a mistake.

Welcome to the clear, graywarrior....................

I feel this need to confront them and set the record straight so their BS doesn't go without a challenge.

9. Laugh heartily and point.
Then add one of the following: "Gee, republicans sure love killing people" or "I knew you looked familiar, you work for Fox news, right?" or "Did you hear? Bill O'Reilly's gay."

7. I've got conservatives as FB friends...
...I mean, not every friend I have--has to be Progressive like me. Especially when
some of my friends are in my FB circle because my children play and attend school
together.

As a consequence, I get to see these messages go by--about how they're scared for our
country because Iowa just made gay marriage legal. They profess that they are praying
for our horrible country...

It's really a lot to bear.

You don't want to start a fight with a woman who is a fellow PTA member.

So...you just watch the messages fly by--and seethe.

I guess I'll take your advice---and just ignore it all.

16. Here's a related question
Do you patronize businesses that you know for sure are owned by RWers? Not necessarily wingnuts, but republicans/conservatives/etc. And I'm not talking about businesses like Home Depot, but rather hometown small businesses.

In fact, we are having a special election on April 21 so I took note of who has rep signs in front of their businesses. I also know who's who in town, so I throw my money toward dem business.

17. Now?
I have never given a flying fuck what they think. It's much worse for them now that I have been vindicated as their trickle down model came crashing down.
Last year March I told one of the Business School gurus that the US economy was heading for a crash and he told me I was talking nonsense. I broke it down for him and he laughed.

I saw him two weeks ago and he wanted to talk. I told him I had no more time to waste with idiots. He called after me shouting how did you know - I laughed and told him I only read or watch M$Greedia to hear the spin, but I have my own sources to seek the facts. I kept walking.

22. Talking with delusional conservative cult members is a waste of time
I have a rule now that I won't engage in any extended conversation with committed conservatives. I am tired of entering the Fox News echo chamber to listen to these people whine and spew their paranoia. When Bush was in, they were holier than thou and kings of the world. Now that their cognitive biases have been shown wrong, they act like every narsissist I have ever seen -- the act out their anxiety and paranoia by grabbing at any rationalization and straw man they can find.

The first step towards recovery for the Conservative party was to stop thinking that we were the centre of the universe and that what we thought mattered more than what others thought.

The Republicans are about to go through a period of self absorption and will think it is all that matters. They will only recover when they start to understand that no one is watching and that no one, except them, cares.

That realisation will be more painful than the battles themselves.

Recovering From Conservative Narcissism

I consider myself spiritual, I allegedly know how to meditate, but lately I am anxious 100% of the time and I feel like I'm losing the battle to even control my own body, my heart rate...

Wow, I wish I could have your confidence. I need it badly.

But good for you... My hat is off to you and any advice you wish to share would be most welcome!

27. not sure anyone has ever made me angry when i knew they were wrong
and i knew i was right, outside of a few ex-gfs that is. guess someone really set you off today.

but how can you cut off 40% (or whatever it is) of our population? this country would be pretty damn boring if we were all liberals and progressives and it was just the very liberal versus the not-quite as liberal. It's important to argue for what's right. Hell, it's fun for me to convince conservatives that they are mistaken, and there is ample evidence out there to do so (thanks Bush!).

this country is amazing because we can 100% disagree with our neighbors and still be civil (well in theory). think about life in Israel, where the implications of elections can literally be life or death decisions. and yet millions of people walk around everyday and maintain a somewhat normal civil society, likud jew among kadima jew. palestinians, israeli arabs, christians, muslims, jews, etc etc. living and working amongst each other. you can't just shut out people who you disagree with. you have to learn to live with them. although Israel may seem an odd choice for me to make a point about civility, you do have to agree that most of the people there, most of the time, are just trying to live their lives and go to work and raise their families, be they in Ramallah or Tel Aviv.

after writing that it kind of dawned on me, part of the reason the I/P conflict is so mangled and unsolvable is because so many people have developed your type of attitude. they've closed their hearts and minds to the opposing side and we get nowhere. but i digress...

28. "Their criticisms of Obama will slide off my back..."
"...(sorta like a duck's!!!.)"

Okay, I just have to comment. This reminds me of Samuel Goldwyn's comment about film criticism, namely: "It rolls off my back like a duck!"

My son and I read that years ago in a book of funny quotes of famous people, and after we got through ROTFL, the two of us spent the rest of the evening giggling -- we both had the same mental image of a duck rolling down someone's back -- even though it is obvious what he meant. In fact we both mention it now and then and still laugh about it.

Thanks for the reminder, brought back a fond memory. Don't mean to hijack your rant though -- carry on! :-)

31. They Vote, therefore they must be addressed.
Ignoring (or insulting) them, as we did during zipper-gate, is the surest way to get the next incarnation of Bush back into office.

Now, there are "dead-enders" -- not much you can do them, but for the rest, you gotta take your Dramamine and your small doze of Valium, and keep getting the message out.
