Bachmann fears ‘politically correct re-education camps for young people’
http://minnesotaindependent.com/31237/bachmann-reedcuation-camps

U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann says she fears the Obama administration will create “re-education camps for young people, where young people have to go and get trained in a philosophy that the government puts forward and then they have to go to work in some of these politically correct forums.” Audio after the jump.

Here’s what Bachmann said on Minnesota radio station KTLK-AM (podcast) this weekend (in reference to The Edward M. Kennedy Serve America Act, a proposed expansion of the AmeriCorps program that Obama may sign into law this week):

"It’s under the guise of — quote — volunteerism. But it’s not volunteers at all. It’s paying people to do work on behalf of government. …

"I believe that there is a very strong chance that we will see that young people will be put into mandatory service. And the real concerns is that there are provisions for what I would call re-education camps for young people, where young people have to go and get trained in a philosophy that the government puts forward and then they have to go to work in some of these politically correct forums."

5. Gosh, where do these shooters get these loony ideas?
Exhibit 1: Michele Bachmann, spewing crazy all over the place

Exhibit B: Fox News, giving the likes of Bachmann a respectul hearing and platform for her repugnant views

Exhibit (iii): The rest of the popular media, which likes to pretend that Exhibit B doesn't exist because of a misguided sense of everybody being in the same Kewl Kidz Klub

7. This Babe Is On A Power Trip...
Honestly...I think she's really getting off on all the attention now. It's turning into a can-you-top-this game for her...like the dirty stand-up who needs to open the next set with something more outrageous than the last. But it's also getting her 15 minutes of fame. I'll bet she can't handle the number of requests to show up on hate radio shows or to speak at some fundraiser...the ego has gone into hyperdrive. She's milking her 15 minutes and loving the attention...a narcasist in her prime.

16. Totally agree. Those GOP members left in Congress
are from the reddest of the red areas of our country. The moderate GOP members have been defeated. So, we're left with the fringe element. And your assessment of Bachman's need for the limelight (much like Coulter) reinforces what we're seeing very often on television: saying the outrageous to grab the spotlight -- it's the narcissism you mention. It's not about what would best serve Americans. It's not about facts. It's all about the ego of the talker. From Newt Gingrich declaring that is he were in charge, North Korea's missile would have been intercepted to Dick Cheney claiming that he kept America safe (well, AFTER 9-11, that is...before 9-11, Cheney was in charge of the anti-terrorism task force. He held no meetings.) Even John McCain claimed to know where Bin Laden is hiding. If only he would tell the rest of us. And, then there's Palin, believing she is ready to be either the second (or first!) in command of our country. Now, that's narcissism.

18. What is wrong with her?
And even more, what is wrong with the people who voted for her?

We have loonies in British politics; but they're mostly not quite THAT bad.
