Censorship: The Threat to Silence Talk Radio by Brian Jennings and Sean Hannity
Edited on Thu Apr-09-09 11:12 AM by RamboLiberal
Heard Jennings last night on Pittsburgh RW talk radio KDKA for a few minutes last night before I had to turn him off cause my blood pressure was probably rising. What a bunch of BS. He was claiming there are going to be regional boards that radio execs will have to report to on their content. Also that it may not be a Fairness Doctrine but another stealth measure like I mentioned with the regional boards.

From Amazon. com
Brian Jennings is one of nation's top talk radio programmers who served as National V.P. of Talk Programming for Citadel Broadcasting, one of the nation's largest radio companies for over a decade and served as programming head to over 40 radio stations nationwide. According to Talker's Magazine, he is also one of the founding fathers of the conservative talk radio format. Nominated 5 times as a national talk radio executive of the year by Radio and Records Magazine, Jennings is also a national award-winning journalist. His many awards include Columbia University's DuPont Award, the National Sigma Delta Chi Award, the Ohio State Award, the National Headliners Award, the National Abe Lincoln Award, and others. He has also worked as a consultant to national personalites such as Oliver North, Michael Reagan, Alan Colmes, Dick Cavett, and others. Considered one of the foremost authorities on talk radio today, Jennings resides in the Pacific Northwest and is a frequent guest on radio and television programs throughout the nation and a staunch defender of free speech.

Since the last posting, there have been several articles on Censorship: The Threat to Silence Talk Radio. The industry hype for this book is great which means they are talking about it. Endorsed by Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, and Mark Levin, I have many interviews coming up and a nationwide book tour in May. Today, April 6th, a surprise mention in Radio-Info which is widely read by radio executives nationwide. Radio-Info has active blogs in all cities.......

“When the new president declared war on Rush Limbaugh…we knew we had been handed a silver platter. We were right."
That’s Brian Jennings, the longtime head of news/talk programming for Citadel, and the author of a new book from Simon & Schuster titled “Censorship: The threat to silence talk radio.” Brian writes that “talk radio is at its best when it has opposition – and we have the most opposition we’ve ever faced in Washington, D.C.”, under the Obama administration. He’s thrilled about the recent higher ratings for (conservative) talk, and the New Mexico board of Radio-Info.com is talking about the book that’s due on May 5.

And from Radio & Records, this nice mention last Friday.....

Good Writing: Programmer-turned-author Brian Jennings sends a note that due to demand his publisher, Simon & Schuster, has now decided to triple the first printing of his book about the potential return of the Fairness Doctrine to 150,000 copies. And, from Al Peterson's NTSMediaOnline read by talk radio executives nationwide, this item...
Publisher Simon & Schuster triples it’s first printing run of Censorship: The Threat To Silence Talk Radio. Penned by longtime Talk radio programmer Brian Jennings, 150,000 copies are now set to hit retailers next month, with pre-orders already available at www.amazon.com …

Talk Radio Ratings Skyrocket

Since this posted, Simon & Schuster has now tripled the first print run for this book!

More people are listening to the radio than ever because they are concerned with the new administration. Conservative talk radio is reaping huge gains because listeners feel it is the only outlet to hear balanced opposition to the policies of the new administration. This is great news for interest in Censorship: The Threat to Silence Talk Radio. Endorsed by Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, and best-selling author of Liberty & Tyranny, Mark Levin, we look forward to a tremendous launch at publication May 5th. This book tells the insidious story of how the left wants to eliminate conservative talk in America. Without it, there would be no balance in the media. This threat is real with Democrats soon holding a 3-2 majority on the FCC and regulations are being readied that would force liberal balance onto the hundreds of conservative radio stations in America. Free speech is in jeopardy. Below is an article from Radio & Records detailing the huge ratings gains of conservative talk in America. Timing for this book could not be better. Thank you.

Hidden deep in a sub-basement, shrouded in mystery, is a special unit in The Excellence in Broadcasting Network's forces known as the Ratings Analysis Unit. This group of information experts have analyzed the latest PPM results for Rush Limbaugh's show and sent a memo to El Rushbo detailing his recent successes.

In New York, Chicago, Houston, Detroit and Los Angeles the show has leapt up to No. 1 in it's timeslot for total audience 12+

Other success stories including ranking second 12+ in San Francisco, third in Washington, fourth in Dallas and fifth in Atlanta.

Limbaugh comments on the news, "These ratings are good news for all of us. It shows there's a healthy hunger for some opposition to what is happening. Don't feel alone. You're not."

1. They are such habitual liars they absolutely cannot distinguish between truth and lies
It's all the same to them in their paranoia.

2. I worry about the Fairness Doctrine coming back
Am I the only one around here that worries?

Anyone else concerned about the idea of courts and government officials determining what is "fair"? I mean really, a large number of Federal judges are pretty conservative (the Supreme Court definitely so), and the make-up of government officials can change with every election. Do we really want to re-institute something that could bite us in the ass the next time a Republican occupies the White House?
