Georgians Rally Against Neocon Bush Selected President
Edited on Thu Apr-09-09 05:50 PM by autorank
The so called Rose Revolution in Georgia - part of the US "democracy" movement in former Soviet
states, is collapsing as we speak. 60,000 citizens of the Republic of Georgia rallied against the
U.S. favorite, President Mikhail Saakashvili. You'll recall Saakashvili decided to attack Russian
troops in a break away part of Georgia who were there by mutual consent.

He got his clock cleaned and gave Russians a chance to occupy a portion of Georgia. It was their
"lesson."

Saakashvili was supposedly a "democracy" reformer who would clean things up. He was also part of the
"fill in the name" Revolutions promoted by U.S. empire builders.

Eventually the people had enough. Good for them.

Georgians rally against president

BBC Apr. 9, 2009
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/7991026.stm

Thousands of Georgians have gathered outside parliament saying they will not disperse until the
president resigns.

Protesters, numbering up to 60,000, blamed President Mikhail Saakashvili for defeat against
Russia in August's war and said he had stifled democracy.

The opposition alleged that dozens of members were arrested before the rally - a claim denied by the
government.

President Saakashvili urged Georgians to show unity and "work day and night... to finally liberate
Georgia".

(This president is a good reason for us to mind our own business and stay at home. I wrote this
at the time of the Georgia - Russian clash)

Hallucinogenic Politics
Sept. 3, 2008

The President of Georgia getting news from the front.

The volatile Georgian president held a bizarre press conference on Aug. 15 after it was clear that
there would be no U.S. or other troops coming to his aid. Speaking at a joint press conference with
Condoleezza Rice, Saakashvili blamed the Russian invasion on a NATO meeting in April 2008 where
Georgia failed to gain admission to that organization. He said that Russia began a military buildup
along the border that somehow made it clear that Russia intended to attack his tiny republic.

He skipped over some important events (like his troops attacking South Ossetia) and lashed out at the
United States and Europe with Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice next to him: "So who invited the
trouble here? Who invited this arrogance here? Who invited these innocent deaths here? Who is – not
only those people who perpetrate them are responsible, but also those people who failed to stop it."
CNN, Aug. 15, 2008 (3:41) and U.S. Dept. of State, Aug. 15, 2008.

and just watched it again.

Revolutions are not fast good - someone should have told Bush.

2. This guy was hand picked.
What a genius. He attacks Russian troops. What would the Russians do? Let's see. Strike back
with their overwhelming force and use it as an opportunity to occupy about 20% of the country.

The guy is a real jerk. It will be interesting to see how this is handled now. Obama has no
investment in this guy so maybe the people get to decide. I suspect that they will. Plus it
will put pressure back on the Russians.

Ironically, the territory in disipute, South Osettia, doesn't amount to much territory and is no
prize. The main economic activity is smuggling.

From BBC:

"I don't think that it should be a surprise that after we lost 20% of Georgian territory and have no democracy in the country, we are asking for the resignation of the president," said Nino Burjanadze.

Sen. John McCain's top foreign policy adviser prepped his boss for an April 17 phone call with the president of Georgia and then helped the presumptive Republican presidential nominee prepare a strong statement of support for the fledgling republic.

The day of the call, a lobbying firm partly owned by the adviser, Randy Scheunemann, signed a $200,000 contract to continue providing strategic advice to the Georgian government in Washington.

3. Further proof that the neocons have shit for brains
Epic fail on their part. WTF were they thinking? That their puppet would be able to take on the Russian military? There's not a form of dope on the planet capable of inducing such utter stupidity!

8. Just deserts
The people only tolerate bull shit for so long then they get fed up. Unlike here, Georgia doesn't
have a monolithic information control system so they get to see the results quickly.

This guy, hand picked by the PTB here, just screwed everything up. Imagine being dumb enough to
ATTACK RUSSIAN troops. The Russians must have though, "What a dumb ass, lets rock, do what we
could never do unless he attacked us. Are you sure he attacked us? What a 'moran'!"
