So faux uber-populist Glenn (Festus) Beck, lives in one of the most elite communities
in the country. Surprise, surprise. Beck is a resident of New Canaan, CT. It doesn't get less populist than that.

1. And David Brooks...
the voice of the put-upon intellectual conservatives (all 5 of them), grew up in Stuyvesant Town, a subsidized, middle-class housing development.

New Canaan, in Fairfield County, is one of the most affluent communities in the nation. I looked it up because though I live in CT now I am not from here and don't know much about the state.

4. I actually, er, grew up there
pretty idyllic when I was a kid back in the sixties. never cared for the town but we lived on acres of fields with woods, an orchard, gardens, barn and cool chicken coop that my dad turned into a playhouse for us. back then it was still a pretty elite place, but nothing like it is today. My mother still lives there.

and take the train to NYC rather than drive in. it's a completely different world on that end of the state from where I live in the southeast near the casinos on the Norwich, CT town line.

and speaking of CT famous wing nuts trivia, Laura Ingraham is from Glastonbury, CT, about half an hour up the road from me.(:puke:)

7. He's fighting the local govt, trying to exceed fence height limits
There was an item a couple of weeks ago, how the height isn't supposed to be over 4 feet and he wants a 6 footer or something, going MILES around his perimeter, something like 4 miles. He tried building up the dirt and putting the fence on top of that. He told the locals he has to have protection from "angry (fans?)", not to mention those hordes of illegals wanting to invade his house.
