I see something else at work with the right wing, a cadre of people who have convinced themselves and each other that reality can be manufactured and who inhabit an increasingly strange reality that has spun so far out of control that it no longer resembles much in the normal space-time continuum.

It's the same for any isolated population under stress that has spun into insanity, most notably the town of Salem during the witch trials. Eventually the magistrates realized "this is nuts" and brought an end to the whole thing.

The isolation the right wing finds itself in is one it has chosen for itself. Unfortunately, they're in so much pain from cognitive dissonance that a few of them will continue to act out violently from time to time until they are so discredited they are reduced to objects of derision.

I am serious. His heart is filled with nothing but black hatred. He drips venom, his smile never meets his eyes. I think he had a rough childhood, just looking at him physically, I expect he was the brunt of many many many jokes, taunts, jeers, etc. I dont think he ever got over it.
