Can we please take a second to imagine what might have been
had McCain been been elected POTUS? PLEASE!

Good Lord! PLEASE people! Take your pick on an issue. ANY issue! (And I do mean ANY issue!) If McCain had met with Arab leaders, where would we be...but more importantly, where would we be going? Would McCain's solution to our economy have been anything other than more tax breaks to his wife's Club Elite and cutting off the middle class even more? What would McCain be doing about North Korea's blustering...Iran? Pakistan? The horn of Africa? Cuba? Chavez? Bush "policies' (read enactment) of torture???

Can we please get some sanity and reality here?

Criticism designed to keep our elected officials within the parameters we as a majority voiced in an election is what strengthens our democracy! Partisan sniping is only designed peel away the margins in order to position toward a 50 plus <1 strategy to win elections, then implement and extreme agenda.

Is everyone prepared for the extremist agenda from the RW Cons? Because, as much as Obama is maintaining a perceived Executive Office "imperialistic" agenda. I'll chose hat over what might have been had McCaina been declared POTUS.

It ain't pretty, and it certainly ain't easy. And Lord knows there are plenty of things topic and choose for alarm...but I'll take what we have vs. what could have been any day of the year!!!

5. Or AG Wayne Anthony Ross....
The guy that the AK leg just rejected...the LAWYER who told the AK lawmakers to NOT worry if what SP was doing was LEGAL or ILLEGAL when she illegally offered up three names (2 of which they already previously rejected) to replace a Juneau Dem instead of just one name.

BTW, he denied the legal or illegal comment...too bad for him that it was caught on tape...

http://community.adn.com/adn/node/140597

Attorney general nominee Wayne Anthony Ross is circulating a letter among legislators saying "I have been advised that there is now a rumor circulating that I have advocated or implied that the law should be ignored when the Senate takes up the issue of approving the governor's appointment to fill the vacant Senate seat for Juneau. ...That rumor is totally false."

At issue is something Ross told me yesterday. His exact quote was that "it seems to me the most important thing that can be done by the Senate is not argue with legal or illegal but to appoint somebody to represent Juneau."

Better audio of his comment that he tried to deny:

9. A very important point.
The SCOTUS was bad enough to start with, and even worse after 8 years of Junior/Lord Vader. If there had been 4 years of McLame, stick a fork in us.

10. For the last 8+ years I close my eyes and dream about President Gore
I'd like to close my eyes now and fantasize about President Gore then President Obama.

Unfortunate the Republican stain will never ever go away in my lifetime, nor that of our great great grandchildren.

11. Of course there were many people back in 2000

complaining that Gore was (also) not progressive enough and voted for Nader (and a few other minor 3rd party candidates) to punish Gore for his lack of ideological purity and/or fealty to whatever cause/position they felt was important to them. I wish Al Gore would've fought harder and actually assumed the Presidency that he would've ultimately been shown to have won fair and square (had the recount not have been abruptly-and illegally IMHO-interrupted) but there is no doubt in my mind that some of the people here sniping at Obama and, in some cases, making him out to be almost as bad as Bush would've probably been equally as critical of Gore IMHO. He, like Obama, of course, would've been LIGHT-YEARS better than Bush/Cheney for the last 8 years, however IMHO!!! I guess that some people whom voted for Bush just didn't think he could f**k up the country as bad as he did and some of whom who apparently needed 4-8 years of Bush to see for themselves just how fundamentally different Democrats really are from Republicans- if in no other way than how much better Democrats generally tend to manage federal government when in power.

12. It's an amazing perspective, isn't it.
I have imagined this a couple of times. But no more. I don't even like entertaining the thought of that...Palin creature. I could have even tolerated McCain like I did Bush. But Palin? I'm sorry. That would have been the end of the world.

But it didn't happen. And for a good reason. This country has some modicum of goodness left. A core of decency.

Sometimes a little perspective is valuable. But if DU'ers are anything like me, it doesn't help much. I am a perfectionist. And why not? I don't like stuff that could be better. It's a fault of mine.
