Now the cover up is well underway.

How can we trust a system that would lie to its people about something like torture?

The weird thing about American history is that the crime is often far less important than the cover up. The cover up is usually the actual scandal. Richard Nixon didn't break into the Watergate, but he sure as hell participated in a cover up of it.

What are we to think of people who would try to cover up torture, or release information in a piecemeal fashion while blowing off prosecutions for such a vicious and inhumane thing?

At least the Watergate burglars had trials and served some jail time, even if Nixon was pardoned by Ford.

This is worse than Watergate. Way worse.

3. Since 2004 when the first Bybee memo was released.
On the other hand, we have not had a President of the Democratic party in office but for a few months, and now he's telling us what he's going to do about this: jack shit.

If he won't do anything, then that's it. The Congress already had its chance to do something about this, anything now is just to further a cover up.

5. I am certain there will be action taken...
there will be a show. And the actors taking the fall will be selected carefully. Apparently, like 9/11.. this time it will be the CIA. I am not sure what government it is people believe we have. After generations of entrenched power, what changed on January 21st?

4. You may not, but many people out there do, and trust blindly.
There are some on DU who trust blindly as well. Obama restored this, but it's being pulled out from underneath, and it's going to be a hard fall. Everyone had their hopes up, and now just as quickly as they got them up, they're being destroyed. The people of this country are morons, I am one of them, but we are not stupid enough to fall for it.
