I'd really love to hear about any firsthand experiences. Secondhand ones would be good too. Interesting links, reviews, anything.
I am looking to buy a fuel efficient car that has some space for cargo and can handle Michigan snow, and this car is on my list. I worry about buying a car this new because owners haven't had time to see what problems the car has. I don't want a vehicle that needs constant repairs or has a design that makes it hard for mechanics to fix.

4. I believe Car & Driver or Road & Track said it blew away the Prius.
Said it was like a "real" car. It was roomy and solid and you never really felt like you were in a hybrid the way you do in a Prius.

6. Hybrid Feels Different?
How? We love our Prius. It has lots of head room, enough room for five people easily, I don't understand what you mean that it feels different from a gas guzzling car?

I'm glad the US companies are finally getting a clue and building viable hybrids that get good mileage...if they are.

7. I've never driven a Prius. I'm only repeating what the review stated.
That the Ford Fusion hybrid has a more solid, "big car" feel to it than the Prius. It is bigger and roomier. Again...I'm not speaking from first-hand experience. I have no doubt that you love your Prius, but that doesn't necessarily mean the reviews of the Fusion hybrid are wrong.

8. I've driven both
The prius and the several thousand miles in the 2010 Fusion Hybrid.

The Fusion tears the Prius a new one. Its hybrid system is far better. Its fuel economy is comparable. The interior and trim is far better. The suspension and drive train drives better. The Ford can handle a load and Michigan winters, the prius can't.

I worked at a subcontractor during the design and testing of the Fusion hybrid.

9. Since it seems like you have had experience with it
what do you think it's weaknesses are? Things to be concerned about?

10. Read a lot of reviews in car mags in waiting rooms...
and while I can't remember all the titles, I also can't remember a negative review. www.cars.com has a good reviews of it, too, but I can't put in the direct link-- use the search box on the left to find the Fusion hybrid, and then find Warren Brown's review.

Everyone seems to love this car, but most compare it not to the Prius, but to the hybrid Camry, and it's even more impressive when they say it blows away a real, and very popular, car. A Fusion actually has great road manners and a real trunk, unlike some other hybrids we could name. Mercurys usually have nicer seats and plusher rides than Fords for the extra money, so the Milan hybrid might just be the best car in the world for the new world. Lessee if they come up with a Lincoln version for those who just can't be caught in a plebeian ride.

(Costs a lot more than the gas ones, though, and one might want to sharpen a pencil when looking at the difference in cost-- the base 4cyl for around 20 grand is a very nice car already, and 7-8 grand more for the hybrid buys you some nicer trim and goodies, too, but it could buy you a lot of gas.)
