Sexual degradation and/or abuse as torture technique
Edited on Wed Apr-22-09 11:20 AM by OneGrassRoot
Why isn't this front and center?

Forget waterboarding for a moment. There are too many Americans who feel this is trivial, especially if it saves lives.

What kind of person could EVER justify rape, or even the threat of rape? What kind of person inflicts torture of any kind on children, in order to get to the parents?

The Limbaugh Republicans who probably WOULD defend such actions as, "Hey, you do whatever is necessary to protect your loved ones," are sick, sick, sick individuals.

I'm to the point that ANYONE who continues to defend Bushco is a sick, sick, sick individual. Not just misguided and ignorant, but SICK and depraved.

The media loves a "sex" story. Why don't they dive into the sodomy atrocities committed at Abu Ghraib? Even though it's not really about sex -- it's about violence and control --the media loves anything with a sexual content to the story.

And it's not a matter of a "few bad apples" either. When a policy goes against the laws of the nation and the world, you invite all manner of inhumanity and depravity, and are therefore responsible FOR the depraved acts committed.

I understand waterboarding is the focus because of the official policy aspect to that particular technique. But we should be shouting from the rooftops about the other atrocities committed in our name....atrocities that I believe were encouraged by the same people who devised the Bush-Cheney Torture Program.

Let's see these right-wingers defend the rape of a teenage boy.

I'd love to see them do so. Put your vile worldview on display for the world to see.....please, give us that chance. "Rush/Hannity/O'Reilly/Beck, would YOU rape a 15-year-old teenage boy to get information out of him to save your country?"

(Again, just forget the probability that at least two of them -- moral upstanding, conservative Christians that they are :sarcasm: -- would LOVE the opportunity to engage in sexual violence as they're wrapped in the flag.)

Come on Sy Hersh, help get the other atrocities that have been buried (though there's a ton of international stuff if you Google) into MSM for America to finally see.

THEN let's see if they defend torture and if they defend Bushco.

:puke:

1. Also, genital mutilation, the focus on waterboarding is self-serving to the GOP.
What about the guy that had his genitals sliced?

And of course, what about the kids that were subjected to this stuff? These people claim to respect Solzhenitsyn but dont understand what the gulag was, or what we should have learned from that example.

Why does it seem like this country needs a basic lesson in why torturing people who are indefinitely jailed is the most basic expression of inhuman power? Why does morality and justice scare the people that support these tactics?

There was a caller on Cspan this morning that said that this country is on the whole normal and moral, but in certain situations when the country acts morally bankrupt the cover up and evasion is utterly inhuman. I tend to agree.
