***Organizing for America is looking for students and recent graduates***
This summer Organizing for America is looking for students and recent graduates to help lead our grassroots movement for change. Summer Organizers will work directly with communities and volunteer leaders to recruit, train and mobilize volunteers to make the change we fought for in 2008 a reality in 2009.

By participating in our Summer Organizers program, you will join a new generation of leadership that is changing our country. You will work as a real community organizer— the profession that launched President Obama’s public service career.

So many of you stepped up and organized your campuses and communities during our campaign. You knocked on doors, made phone calls, registered voters, and trained your peers. You made it happen.

But this is just the beginning and change in Washington is not going to come easy. We will not achieve affordable education, quality health care, or clean energy unless we all work for it. It is up to all of us to fight back against special interests and make sure that our voice is heard.

We need you this summer.

Summer Organizers will be trained on the principles, strategies and tactics of effective grassroots organizing. Summer Organizers will be asked to commit to 40 hours per week and will:

* Organize communities in support of President Obama’s most important policy priorities: health care, education, and clean energy
* Work as a team with Organizing for America staff, volunteer leaders, and fellow Summer Organizers to accomplish our goals
* Build and strengthen the grassroots movement that was created during the Obama campaign
* Help lead community service projects
* Gain training and experience that will prepare them for a future career in organizing, with a focus on: strategic planning, issue organizing, coalition building, planning events and managing teams of volunteers

We will be operating our Summer Organizers program only in select states. If you live in a state where we are not running a Summer Organizers program, you will be asked to move to another state.

Our Summer Organizer program begins with a mandatory training on June 12th and concludes on August 22nd. You can fill out the application right here online, but make sure you do it before our deadline on May 5th. We strongly encourage you to apply early.

If anyone is interested in learning how to do community organizing this IS your chance to make a difference. Application at link.

1. Does this actually pay anything, or is it volunteer? I can see my niece
being interested in something like this, but only if it actually paid money.

3. Volunteer position
Of course if there are some people opening up their houses for these volunteers perhaps they would also being willing to feed them as well. This is sorta like the campaign Obama started during his run for office. A lot of kids were able to stay at homes that the homeowners opened up for them.

If your niece wants to be involved she could always apply and find out if she even gets approved for the training.

It will be interesting to find out what states they choose.
