What & When Will Be The Tipping Point When The MSM Tips Over The Teetertotter......
and begins to really go after BushCo?

I seem to recall that in the formative days of Watergate scandal that the media was still skeptical or on the side of Nixon and then all of a sudden it seemed like the whole world just tipped over and began to dump on him. Even people in his own party saw the light and asked for him to resign.

I don't think we are quite there with BushCo yet - but I think we're going in that direction.

What will it take? When will it happen? Will we see the likes of Rush, Hannity, et al and Faux news even come over from the darkside? What could possibly get them to turn on BushCo - if anything?

1. Someone deeply inside -
maybe one of the pricks who wrote the memos, or someone who dealt directly - face-to-face with them - will have to come forth and speak plainly about how it was stated that they were trying to subvert existing laws so as to make torture legal.

Even then, I doubt the rightwingnuts will speak out against Chimpy Fucknuts and Dickwad Cheney. I doubt anything could happen that would turn them away from their idiotic worship of those leaden idols............................

2. Hard to say, isn't it?

I remember the scandal with Trent Lott. Those quotes he made about "all those problems we could have avoided" if Strom Thurmond had been elected.

I really thought it blow over. But no. It was like an avalanche of piling on top of Lott's statement. Repubs and even Fox News piled on.

And it happened SUDDENLY.

I think it almost tipped for the original torture pics, too. But that died rather quickly in the media.

So, you never know.

But I DO think this has got the momentum.

3. The wingnuts won't budge...
Lockstep is the name of the game for them, remember? If they didn't jump off the Bush bandwagon when the Rethugs lost Congress in 2006, they were never going to jump off the bandwagon.

5. Yes. But as this goes down they cannot avoid looking utterly ridiculous in how
they are attempting to spin the unspinnable.
I hope it's slow, because the slower and more thorough the more deadly.
I am so ready.

6. When one of the Bush Officials cuts a plea arrangement with AG Eric Holder..
The 'Butterfield' of our time stepping into the light of day will be the tipping point.

As far as Faux News is concerned, they will continue to play to the 25% of Repub true believers that Bush Officials were railroaded. I don't think they will ever turn on Bush.

7. There are interesting dynamics at play.
There are two things that immediately come to mind. When the situation becomes a threat to the GOP. And when a GOP authority figure breaks down. Then their survival becomes the driving behavior. Then purging and elimination will occur.

There are so many things going on, and still pending. There are stories that will resurface. And then there are the testimonies under oath that will reveal. The dots will start connecting.

I really don't know. But it's fun to be on this side of the slope. We are fairly certain that reversal of momentum is not going to happen. And there is a fair degree of certainty that this won't end in trivial prosecutions.

There may also be a point where even the conservatives begin to see the absolute comparison between Obama and those who have been destroying this country. There is an attractiveness to goodness.

I wish I could predict a specific condition which would precipitate this. Perhaps Karl Rove breaking down on television, and repenting. Certainly once investigations begin, there will be revelations. Janis Karpinski, and those like her may have a large effect on the how people see the context of what happened. She is not going to sit quietly. And she was there.

Also, there will be other scandals. Add another scandal to the fire, and all hell may break loose.

9. Meh......they NEVER come over from the darkside......
"They" only know when "they" and their positions can't/aren't viable anymore. The 'evil ones' will ALWAYS be up to their dirty tricks.

The 'evil ones' are shape-shifters. They'll figure out how to fit their square peg into our round-hole and try to make us believe that we're GETTING A BARGAIN!!!! <------ (right here, right now! *dammit*)

It has been so since time began. There has been no progress.

10. Good question.
I was shocked by how my paper, the LA Times, tip-toed around using the word "torture" in its headline.

I started a poll to find out how everyone else's paper did: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=389&topic_id=5519911&mesg_id=5519911
