Iraqi hospital official: "Would you please ask Obama to postpone the withdrawal?"

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/04/24/AR2009042401100_2.html?hpid=topnews%3Cbr%3E

<snip>

A senior hospital official said at least 75 bodies had arrived at the morgue. The death toll, he estimated, could reach 100 because many bodies were dismembered. The official asked that his name not be published, but he displayed a badge and escorted a reporter into the overflow morgue and the hospital where dozens of wounded were waiting for treatment.

Teary residents peeked inside the dark, foul-smelling trailer where bodies lay on stretchers.

"If you can't find the head, look at the clothes," one man suggested to a stranger trying to identify the dead.

On a table by the entrance, morgue workers wearing black rubber gloves piled severed heads, arms and feet in plastic bags.

"Let the universe see with its own eyes that without America, Iraq's security forces cannot achieve security," the hospital official said. "Would you please ask Obama to postpone the withdrawal?"

3. Please tell me why after 6 years Iraq has not been able
to put together a competent police force and military. Other than complete corruption or incompetence what in gods name does it take to train police and soliders. We trained thousands of men and women and sent them into battle in WWII and won the war in 4 years. With all the money and personnel we have expended in Iraq they should have the best equipped and trained security forces in the Middle East.

To believe BushCo did all that training, etc., is to believe BushCo is capable of telling the truth. And let's not forget he had help with that; he seated his helpers there.

5. this is the newest meme: we have to stay because we're peacekeepers
never mind that most of the sectarian violence is over the U.S. presence--who's perceived as pro-occupation and thus a vendepatria: the U.S. presence there is like a guy using a machine gun to "help" at a surgery, not a noble obstacle to the anti-Iraq "thugs"
and somehow I'm skeptical of the embeds' reports of Americans "bringing peace" to the squabbling Natives--especially since they never note that the violence began upon U.S. invasion
