I don't know if it's even okay to post this, but I REALLY wanted to say both thank you and I'm sorry.

a kick ass job with all of us. a terrific group of mods and working their tushes off.

just have seen so much of late, and notice their corralling, so thought i would jump in for a pat on the back to our mods.

Thank you mods for taking the right action. You deserve better than my lack of faith.

I don't know what, in particular, you are referencing, but I support this thread of thanks to the mods!

... I've hardly been on DU at all today, so I don't even know what this is about.

But here's TWO things I now know, having read this post:

(a) The Mods have a really tough job to do, and they can NEVER get enough credit for doing it, and doing it so well

(b) DUers (such as yourself, as you have just demonstrated here) can be the most gracious and classiest people in the world.

One of them had a history of making racist and sexist comments. I've alerted on their posts before.

he would jump on every thread to embrace rape, and every sexist thing there was. he hates women. the guy was the biggest creep

I was just telling my mum today how I can't believe how some people behave on here, and she reminded me how some people are just troublemaking trolls. I believe, some just stumble upon DU because of one issue that is in the news and they can discuss about it, and then they see how people listen to them, so they stick around and show their closed-mindedness on other issues and refuse to change.

messed up sometimes. i dont play games, on net or off. and i forget there are people that is all they are a big ole game. people say things they would never be brave enough to say face to face.

when it is so opposite of who i am, it is hard to remember. whatever i say on the board, i will or have said face to face with another.

Placing aside the "passionate leftie" named Left whose online presence culminated in an expression of righty frat boy humor (although I suppose context is everything, except on this thread), isn't the witch hunt rhetoric a little incongruous on a grave dancing thread, as you threaten to self-immolate your DU persona if this trial by ordeal doesn't shun your way? How do you lavish praise on a set of virtual authority figures you consider douchebags? You can't really attribute tombstones you like to undistinguished mods, while tombstones you disagree with are EarlG's personal fault; for one thing it doesn't seem to work that way (see Figure 1), and holding EarlG solely responsible for the decision because he commented on the subject strikes me as an example of prejudice (i.e., basing assumptions on existing biases and limited information).

Tribute to the toxic poster who just got the ol' heave-ho.

in the past few days, but I've been trying hard to hold up my end of the "bargain" that we make as DU members, and alert whenever I see a personal attack. I know you guys can't find them all if we don't help, so I've been trying to help. This has led to some interesting things, including me sending alerts about attacks on DU'ers that I really dislike. Still, an attack is an attack, and my personal likes and dislikes don't matter. Nobody "deserves" to be treated like that, and that's true for people I like *and* people I dislike.

Anyway, just wanted to say THANK YOU and commend you all on the awesome way you've been responding to us as of late.
