Is there anyone happy? It's spring, weather's great (or a bit weird)
but is anyone doing okay? Please, check in, because you never do. I don't either, but I'm okay.

Even thought I can't find a job, I'm going to lose my house, I wrecked my car last Wednesday and also wacked up the bumper on the loner, I'm not crying about it anymore.

15. thanks, I really am feeling better
and when my son and I come out of this on the other end. We'll be just as good as ever. I'm thinking clearly enough now that I'm actually taking action and dealing with it all instead of lying in bed and avoiding everything. So, progress is being made.

16. I'm really sorry about all that.
But I also hate to hear whatever medication you're on (an SSRI, most likely) referred to as "happy pills." No pill can "make" you happy. As you said, right now you're just not crying anymore, which means you have things under control to a certain extent, but it doesn't mean you're happy. Nor should you be.

An SSRI doesn't take away unhappy feelings, it just makes them less overwhelming and more manageable. Too bad so many are under the impression that they will make you artificially happy when you actually have good reason to be unhappy.

I hope things turn around for you soon.

18. he gave me paxil
Edited on Tue Apr-28-09 10:42 AM by notadmblnd
I couldn't even get through a job interview without crying. I was feeling overwhelmed, frustrated (not getting a response from mtg company) and very very angry. I was taking it out on everyone and not even knowing why. And I was paralyzed with inaction. I was avoiding paying bills, even though the money was in the bank and I was avoiding everyone and everything. My Dr said that I was not depressed but probably had a serotonin deficiency and prescribed paxil. No, it does not get me high or make me happy. But I am able to deal with things now and my family likes me again. I've gotten through a job interview this week, I didn't cry when I wrecked my car, nor did I cry when I dinged up my loaner. I've made a decision in regards to what I'm going to do in regards to our living situation and I'm finally sleeping again. No, my life is not ok yet, however, I do feel now that there is light at the end of the tunnel. I am happier.

3. Well, the weather here in central NJ is hot as hell, but
I'm not unhappy. We're doing okay. My husband finally got a job (he was "laid off", what a joke-they aren't calling anyone back, the week before Christmas) and I'm working. The pets are fine, we caught up on the bills, I broke a tooth this weekend and my new dentist fixed it by bonding it-no novocaine needle, Yay!-so I guess I am happy. :)

12. I'll be 48 on Saturday. I had two of my high school buddies up to go fishing this last Saturday.
Between us, we caught 12 nice rainbow trout, and one of my buds took them all home to have a fish cookout yesterday. I wish I could have been there, but take comfort in the fact that the cookout went beautifully, and everyone was ga-ga over the fish.

Even at 48, I regularly see peeps I went to high school with. They make up my primary social circle. Once we were about 25 strong, now we're about 12 strong, not including wives, husbands, and children. Count up everyone, and we've had camping outings where we've had to reserve 3-4 camping spots next to each other to accomodate all the adults and kids. I've counted upwards of 30 people, adults and kids included, at our back yard get-togethers. We spend holidays, birthdays, anniversaries, and regular time together whenever we can. We MAKE time to be together. There is nothing like spending special time with people you've known all your life. We've shared good times, bad times, and in-between times. We've fought, made up, held grudges, hugged like family when those grudges were let go, and helped raise each other's kids by being babysitters when hubbies and wifies wanted to get away for a weekend, and in a few instances, for a long vacation.

Am I happy? It depends on what your definition of happy is. My definition says I'm EXTREMELY happy, and have few worries because I know I have a social network who would support me and mine should the need arise. I count myself lucky in the extreme.

On the spring thing, I have about 70 seedlings that I'm getting ready to transplant, everything from tomatoes to egg plant with scallions and lettuce, cucumbers, squash and jalapenos in between, and that's just to name a few.

Happy? Yes. Concerned about the future? More than you know. Confident that things will work out in the short-term? Yes.

Bottom Line: Am I happy? Yes, I am. Happy and Lucky.

14. Retired and prosperous, but..........
....I'm not happy. You'd think a guy 54 yrs old that is retired would be happy. Well, I am for that fact, but I am not happy that my fellow Americans have lost their hope for the "American Dream". I knew Bush was gonna fuck things up, I just didn't think he could fuck em up so badly. When you see 80 yr old people having to work to put food on the table, all is not well. I am shifting my charitable contributions from kid related stuff to food and clothing for adults as well. That's what it's going to take, everyone with resources and time to contribute what they can. We can do this, but people have to participate. Communities have to stand up and take care of their own. People who are working have to contribute to those who can't find work. Don't sit back and watch, do something! Organize an auction or some other fund drive for those in need. Do it now! The sooner we fix this, the fewer people will be affected.
