Do the DU rules apply to the first reply in a thread?

After all, an Original Post is not itself a discussion. By posting the first reply, you couldn't have been disrupting the creation of the Original Post. Nor are you disrupting any ongoing discussion because there isn't yet any ongoing discussion. Therefore, the person who posts the first reply can claim to be automatically not guilty of disrupting anything.

Can the early bird do it?

By "it", I mean: worm his or her way out of responsibility. See below for your choices in this quiz...
