I love it - Des Moines lesbian couple asks to waive waiting period for marriage
because one of them if pregnant! Of course the judge agreed! :bounce:

Shelley Wolfe, 38, and Melisa Keeton, 31, both of Des Moines, were the first gay couple in Polk County to marry under the new ruling. Judge Karen Romano quickly agreed to waive the waiting period.

The women wanted to get married Monday, they said, because Keeton is six months pregnant. They have been together nearly three years.

The couple, who also have toddler son, Baxter, shared a religious ceremony in 2007.
“I’ve had a lot of medical issues. To me, it’ll be a lot less stressful because we’ll have legal rights,” Keeton said. “Really, today is about making it legal.”

2. In reading articles from the Des Moines Register and Waterloo Courier
There were two couples that were expecting and wanted to be married before the birth and other couples that had health issues and marrige ensures access to their spouses. I just read in tonight's paper that a couple that we are friends with (and have been together for 20 years) applied for the license....I'm hoping that we get invited to the ceremony! :7

7. The only place I seem to read about the haters is in the comments sections
Plenty of nasty stuff there. Thnakfully they aren't getting the headlines. Hopefully they never do.

4. I knew there was a couple who got the waiver, but I didn't know the reason
Congratulations to Shelley and Melisa! A new life and human rights...it really doesn't get any better than that. :)
