Olympia Snowe speaking truth about the Repub Party to Andrea Mitchell on MSNBC
Edited on Wed Apr-29-09 12:46 PM by eleny
She's got her finger on the pulse of Repub Party troubles. How they lost so deeply in 2 elections - it's like a 100 year flood. Time for the Party to embrace what has happened to it so it can begin to rebuild. The ideological right has driven moderates away and that's not acceptable. You cannot be a majority Party and lose regions of the country.

They'll be going after her soon on tv and radio. I'm sure she knows she's secure in Maine, though, so she can speak truth to the powers in her Party.

An excellent interview. Not that her Party will listen to her.

1. Yet, she's still a Repug.
Why remain a Repug unless your political philosophy aligns more closely with the Rs than the Ds?

6. Because leaving just concentrates the poison
That's the way they got to where they are; by listening to ideological purists and ejecting from the party anyone who did not embrace the platform in full.

I call these ideological purists the idealoogies.

It's not Snow that needs to change; it's the party that needs to change by having more people like her.

2. No no no. Michael Steele is going to bring Hip Hop Awareness to the Northeast...
...and that is how the GOP is going to rebuild there.

The GOP don't need to worry yo, it's all good 'cuz the Steele man knows wassup, ya see?

Word.

Snowe's acting a fool gettin all up on the radio with this nonsense. The GOP don't take responsibility for their actions and never will. Homey's don't play that!

5. Let's see if she gets attacked by Limbaugh and Hannity
They have no clue what respect is. And once Limbaugh gets on your case his dittoheads go to work making life threatening comments. There's a reason why the Republicans go running to him for forgiveness.

7. I hope she doesn't get physical threats
The far right demands absolute obedience. She will get some awful crap thrown at her from those loons.

9. It's not just moderates the GOP repelled -- It's also civil libertarians, constitutionalists . . .

. . . honest fiscal conservatives, paleoconservatives, Eisenhower Republicans, Taft Republicans, Teddy Roosevelt Republicans, Lincoln Republicans, log cabin Republicans, Goldwater Republicans, antiwar Republicans, independents who once leaned Republican, Republicans who understand nuance, Republicans who read . . . . . and, in general, every (former and/or recovering) Republican who does not pledge knee-jerk allegiance to the current mutant blend of talk-radio-pseudo-populist, religious right pandering, neoconservative corporatist Orwellian dogma.

16. She'll get re-elected in Maine forever
unless she royally screws things up, which she hasn't up to this point. Mainers like moderates. She is popular here. Ultra-conservatives do not do well in elections here.
