My next idea..The U.S. orders Fiat to produce Diesel Hybrids.

And for 10 years subsidizes every vehicle sold. Every gas station now sells Deisel fuel. It is a cleaner fuel.They already make small cars. Would reduce CO2 substantially. Then for the next ten years these new hybrids become profitalble. Then 20 years later Hydrogen cars are ready to be mass marketed.

there's no such thing as a diesel hybrid - they've all got petrol engines. There's a reason for that but I can't remember what it is.

If you want ecomony then try some of our European diesel engines which do up to 70mpg/Imp.gallon and beyond. Even the latest BMW 2.0d 170ps does over 50.

2. Volkswagen made a concept car that was a diesel-electric hybrid.

I don't know if they're going to put it into production or not, but the technology's there.
