Um, does the "media" know the result of the election in November?
Edited on Fri May-08-09 06:00 PM by SoCalDem
In that recent election, "the people" spoke. The people SAID:

We no longer support what the republicans believe, or how they govern, and we do not believe what they say , or care what they think.

and yet....

Every day, on every "discussion show", republicans are invited, to continue to spout their nonsense, and are asked to pontificate about the decisions being made by the ELECTED/CHOSEN/PREFERRED people currently in charge of making policy.

The "default" switch is still set on "R", and it needs to be reset..bigtime..

The group of people who drove the economy into the ditch, crashed the futures of millions of people, got us into two crazy unwinnable wars at the same time, "broke" our military, and made us an international pariah, are STILL being asked to send representatives of their now 21% membership, to critique anyone who is trying to get us OUT of the messes they created..

It's an insane proposition.

Does anyone recall seeing Gore or Clinton being asked DAILY, about things that *² or Cheney did , over their 8 long years in office?..When and IF any dems were even allowed to participate in the "conversation", it was for "bait", and only the most milquetoasty dems were ever invited..Bob Shrum, former-democratic-pollster-pat-cadell, Donna Brazile and the occasional visit of "snakehead" (for comic relief),were the only ones I even remember seeing regularly.

The 21%ers whose belief system was tossed into the trash in November are STILL being invited to shape public opinion, as if anyone still believed anything they had to say.

The "Dirty Thirty™" who routinely trashed Clinton's administration is now the "Twitchy Twenty™", but they are still being treated as if they were at least half, and worthy of comment..

They are NOT.

We've all had a bellyful of Pat Buchanan, Frank Gaffney, Peggy Noonan, Ron Christie , Hannity, O'Reilly, and all their pals.

Their lame ideas are still being shoved down our throats, as if they had merit. It's way past time to have a reality check, and spend precious air time fleshing out ideas that may WORK.

In relation to a radio show she produces. We have pictures of her, Priscilla Barnes and the guy who played Larry eating her cake and donuts. What were we talking about again? See you're right. DAMN YOU THREE'S COMPANY!!!!

3. Democrats were not allowed anywhere near cameras after the 2004 election
Isn't it strange how Republicans are there everytime a camera is turned on.

9. Actually, they got massive coverage during the 2006 midterms
The anti-war message.

(Remember Murtha?)

That's how they took the House, the Senate, plus majorities in governorships and local legislatures in 2006.

10. Hopefully soon the big corporate media will be going the way of the dodo repugparty.
Hey, suited talking heads with spinning graphics, lackeys to your corporate masters: WE DON'T CARE ABOUT YOU. We don't idolize you. We don't respect you. We don't think you deserve your big salaries and your "prime time" spots. We're not persuaded any more by your lies and your hypocrisy. We're not turning to you for our information any more because for the last eight years (much longer, really, but especially the last eight) you've done nothing but lick the boots of your fascist neocon masters -- and would happily be doing so today if you could. FUCK YOU! Fuck your ugly sets, your stupid super graphics, your quaffed hair, your perfect suits, your perfect teeth and perfect grins. FUCK YOU! You've shown your true colors over and over and over again. I don't understand why ANYONE watches any of you any more. You're lowlifes. Corporate whores masquerading as journalists. You make me want to :puke: I've stopped watching cooperate TV altogether. NO TV AT ALL in my house! I get all my information online and when I want entertainment I go out or watch a movie from Netflix. Screw you, your condescending arrogance and your stupid advertisers.

11. Yes, the corporate media know, they just don't care.
The Republicans weren't the only ones losing that election; it was to some degree a refutation against corporate media propaganda power to manipulate the American People.

This is what really sticks in the corporate media's craw and this is why they will never quit until they can regain the momentum in continuing their monopolization in all manner great and small of controlling access to and dissemination of information, with all the power, money and influence that goes with it.

They are firms believers in Reagen's Golden Shower; aka trickle down theory of economics carried even further, because they believe the same rule applies to information in addition to money.

They don't really care about their inconsistent, hypocritical behavior between their coverage and primary choice of guests during Democratic and Republican Administrations, because for the most part, they don't care about the peoples' voice or point of view, just that of their corporate masters and their clients and how they can regain the somewhat lost ability to manipulate the American People.

In short, it's all about the corporate media and to the vast majority of them, that's all it ever was.

12. you would think that with them losing money hand over fist, that they would see the light
The drivel they have been producing, is no longer "selling"...and people are seeking out alternative media..

In Europe, papers take an OBVIOUS slant, and admit to it, and they seem to be doing a lot better than our media. perhaps the newspaper business could be reborn, but WITH each paper taking a side..instead of trying to be all things to all people..

14. I believe some of them may have seen the light but I don't believe
most of the owner/CEO types want to accept the virtues of light.

For too long, they've thrived in the insulating cloak of darkness, just as any bat or nocturnal animal; prefers the darkness, so do the controllers of information.

I don't believe most of them are intent on adapting to the light; so much as finding a switch to turn it off.

I don't have a problem with a newspaper having an OBVIOUS slant, so long as they're honest with their slant.

If someone sells their home, they have an inherent slant or self interest, but they're also required to disclose adverse material facts known to them regarding the property's condition, whether seen or unseen, or whether they have a conflict of interest as in agent/owner. I don't understand why newspapers, radio and television can't be held to the same standard?

Slanting is one thing, but outright deception; even if by omission should be taboo, full disclosure should be a given, and when they need to print a retraction or correction, it should be on page one, or at least the same page as the offending article.

When the corporate media lies, especially in regards to our national leadership and critical issues, the American People die.
