What's next?

It's a freakin house!! Sure, it's big. Maybe you wouldn't want to live there.
But the size of his house should not affect your vote.
His stance on the issues is all that matters to me.

Republicans will do Anything.. say Anything... lie, cheat, steal, manipulate, provoke- you name it.
Whoever started this must be laughing their asses off. Not only will the Freepers freak out and bash,
the Democrats are losing it and jumping into the ring. Over square footage!!

What that has to do with him politically I have NO clue.

It's not just republicans. IMO, a stanch democrat, that it was not a populist move.
Edwards should have known better.

Don't blame all this on the Republicans. I'm not pleased that he talks of "Two Americas" while he sits in a Castle. Don't work well for the Populist movement of the 21st Century.

4. I'll ask again...
What does his HOUSE have to do with his stance on the issues?
Can you not be rich but still help those who are not?
If you are rich, are you unable to empathize with those who have less?
Does the size of your home negate your ability to be seen as a human being?
What is the square footage allowable to be considered a good person?

14. No, simply, you can't.
People who CAMPAIGN about helping the poor are welcomed to show off their wealth, but realize, in the 21st Century, many of us potential Constituents would believe their message more if they could live IMO SANELY. That's way too expansive. If you need that much space, even if you came from poverty, IMO, you can not fully relate to us "little people."

I'm sorry, perhaps I'm the minority, but I don't like the Kennedy's excesses nor the Kerry's but neither run on a POPULISM as their primary reason for existence. It just doesn't fit.

16. I can see where you are coming from, I just disagree
Your right, the house is excessive for a family of 5.
The thing is, I don't think the size of the house would make him a bad leader.

17. We simply disagree, but many are right, it's beyond time to move on.
I'm sorry. Really, I only wish that Edwards would have bought a little more modest house.

But yes, we are all DEMOCRATS and it's time to stop beating a dead horse. :-) :hi:

3. What happened to Blow-Jobbed, and Impeached? Didn't they come first?
What about BETRAYED - as in Clinton BETRAYED the Democratic party and the Constitution when he refused to pursue the outstanding matters in IranContra, Iraqgate and BCCI, and actively covered up for Poppy again when CIA drugrunning story came out in 1996?

The pattern was set long ago and the GOP muscles were qalready BUILT and STRONG long before the swifts popped up.

13. Oh, there was a lot of whining here yesterday.
Seems as if John Edwards' house is a little too large for most of the folks here.

The whole thing was silly beyond belief.

8. Wait till the primaries actually start.
If you were under any illusions of Democrats being better, finer, kinder human beings...that will dissipate.

I believe people used to put on body armor to enter the primary threads.

Sadly, it seems to be a bipartisan term.

19. Did you read the HuffPost article about Obama? It's really about the smear machine.
There is a well oiled (no pun, but feel free to infer one) political machine that exists solely for the purpose of smearing every popular Democrat who attains name recognition. We feed all these beasts with the attention they crave at our own peril. The Edwards house story is pretty lame, and yet it magically has the ability to show up on the front page of the WaPo. What other candidates have we seen whose homes suddenly contain the foreshadowing of a scandal? Obama.

They're successful men, so they buy big houses. Then, sometimes, they sell them. It's not a story, much less a scandal. But there's an echo chamber designed to trumpet this crapola (and squawky little "don't trust a rich man" dupes willing to parrot these non-stories in DU). It's a swift boat. It's an Indonesian madrassa. It's a suspicious middle name. It's a precipitous job reassignment.

For some reason they're holding their fire on Senator Clinton. My theory is that they've got something really big on her... that or they think simply replaying their greatest hits from the Clinton years is enough to do the job---smear by nostalgia.

21. Two points.
Does he support an Irani War? http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=389&topic_id=49201&mesg_id=49201

And, secondly, what legislation did he author when he was senator for six years that would have helped the poor?

I think those are much more important issues. Why aren't we discussing them instead of having 100 threads about his house?
