8. that article is from 1995 apparently
although it is dated 2001, it talks about Gingrich being elected speaker and it says he took time off from "celebrating his 44th birthday" which was in 1995.

I don't think the media should dredge up a 14 year old comment to somehow justify something said this weekend.

He was discovered trying to smuggle a small supply of Viagra into the Dominican Republic a couple of years ago. The bottle had someone else's name on it.
If I did that, I would still be in jail.
