My MIL has only voted in one election: last year's presidential general election. Over the course of her life, she avoided registering for the vote because in Texas, it made you eligible for jury service. That changed a few years ago. She was also intimidated by the idea of using a voting machine, even though there is help for it. Also, last year, she had the opportunity to vote by mail, so that is what she did. She liked McCain because he is a Vietnam War vet like her husband, who was career Army. She refers to herself as a Republican.
She told us Saturday that they each are getting (or have received) $250 in tax stimulus. Furthermore, her husband's military pension check has increased by about $100 for lower withholding based on the new tax tables. She was happy to admit that Obama is treating them well.
Hubby reminded her that Obama is looking out for people that are not a part of the upper class. I hope she takes it to heart.
Also, she was also perplexed by insHannity's condemnation of Obama's use of mustard on a hamburger since she likes it too.
