We should just support that, you know, and be faithful in what happens.

We have brains for a reason.

For the first time, this week, he made a decision that shocked and disappointed me. As much as I love Obama, I can't pretend I agree with his decision this week.

That would be hypocritical of me. Because when that piece of shit Bush made the same decision, I despised him for making it.

EDIT: I appreciate that you are being facetious. I understand that. Your point is well taken and I agree with you.

22. BINGO!! good one..i have a good question ..
that Glen Greenwald asks ..

Glen Greenwald's question to people defending Obama's position on torture photos http://www.salon.com/opinion/greenwald/2009/05/13/photo...

"...(5) For all of you defend-Obama-at-all-cost cheerleaders who are about to descend into my comment section and other online venues to explain how Obama did the right thing because of National Security, I have this question: if you actually want to argue that concealing these photographs is the right thing to do, then you must have been criticizing Obama when, two weeks ago, he announced that he would release them. Otherwise, it's pretty clear that you don't have any actual beliefs other than: "I support what Obama does because it's Obama who does it." So for those arguing today that concealing these photographs is the right thing to do: were you criticizing Obama two weeks ago for announcing he would release these photographs?"

...As Judge Hellerstein wrote in rejecting the Bush argument -- now the Obama argument -- that disclosure would jeopradize the troops: "the freedoms that we champion are as important to our success in Iraq and Afghanistan as the guns and missiles with which our troops are armed."

I agree you should make this a post of it's own.

31. when Obama does something that I question, I always have to remind myself . . .
that we now have a president who is smarter than me, and likely smarter than most of us . . . I believe he truly wants to do the right thing in every issue area, but he realizes that some things are going to take longer than others . . . one does not engage the forces of the status quo in battle lightly . . .

take healthcare, for instance . . . I actually believe that Obama believes in a universal single payer system, but knows that there's no way it will pass this time around . . . better to have a public option in addition to the current system, and go for the whole ball of wax when experience proves that the savings from such a mixed system will be negligible . . . yes, we'll have to do it all over again -- but with new evidence that ONLY universal single payer makes sense . . . I think that's probably how Obama sees it, and of necessity he's willing to make this into a two-part campaign -- get what he can now, and go for the rest later . . .

82. It's not far from that.
There are posters saying that we should trust that Obama has some unkown strategy that involves doing what appears to be wrong for some eventual good, so we shouldn't call him wrong now. That, to me, is as preposterous as what the OP is spoofing. I understand hoping the President has big plans, but how many things have we heard this "chess player" rationale about now, and have any of these master plans ever emerged?

Because I trust Obama to do the right thing here. It's a case of being careful about what you wish for. You don't know what's in those photos or the ramifications of making them public. None of us know. I'll take my chances by trusting in the person I voted for rather than going for the unknown all because it appeases some blogger with who-knows-what motives.

"trust the President".

And the alternative to trusting someone you don't know would be to inform yourself and reason it out on your own. You might still agree with Obama but at least you'd know why and wouldn't be forced to rely on an act of faith.

66. Well, since you can't see the evidence you would have to
trust or distrust the president. I choose to trust. I'm certainly not going to get up in arms about it because some blogger (who doesn't know what they're talking about) gets riled up.

is not a reason to trust the president.

77. But you don't know anything about the photos or the
ramifications of releasing them, nor does anyone else blogging here, self included. I chose to trust that Obama is making the best decision for me by not releasing them and you chose to distrust him for not releasing them.

We just disagree.

Which is it for you defenders of Obama refusing to give the court the photo's of torture???????

Glen Greenwald's question to people defending Obama's position on torture photos http://www.salon.com/opinion/greenwald/2009/05/13/photo ...

Otherwise, it's pretty clear that you don't have any actual beliefs other than: "I support what Obama does because it's Obama who does it." So for those arguing today that concealing these photographs is the right thing to do: were you criticizing Obama two weeks ago for announcing he would release these photographs?"

...As Judge Hellerstein wrote in rejecting the Bush argument -- now the Obama argument -- that disclosure would jeopradize the troops: "the freedoms that we champion are as important to our success in Iraq and Afghanistan as the guns and missiles with which our troops are armed."

edit to add:I did not hire Obama to circumvent my constitutional rights as an American or the laws of our land and courts and to circumvent our constitution..by refusing this court order he is breaking our laws..and if he continues, he is then complcit in the crimes against our nation and he will have abdicated his oath of office and should be removed from office!

87. that is false
You are saying that you trust this one politician, and then falsely characterize others as not trusting this one politician.

What the others are saying is that trust in any politician is no substitute for open government and an informed public.

You then say that the public should not demand that they be informed, because they don't know everything. So, they should not be informed because they are not informed.

Since we don't know what the government is doing, therefore they know better than us, so they should not let us know what they are doing, therefore I trust them.

90. Sorry, don't have enough trust in me.
The only people I completely trust are my BF and my Mom. My dad doesn't even make the list.

President Obama is going to have to keep stepping up to the plate.

I trust most of the moves he makes mostly because I support them then there are choices that stink badly. I will criticize or support where I see fit.

94. Call me old fashioned...
Call me old fashioned, but where and when I came from, trust is NEVER given.

Simply having a badge, gun, title or position matters not - even for the POTUS.

Trust is earned.

Everyone will have to make up his or her own mind whether they trust Obama in every decision he makes, and why or why not.
