This is absolutely bizarre. I'm not even close to being one of the big movers on DU, yet our parallel universe evil sister site currently has FOUR threads on their stalker page with my name in the sub line. Not my actual DU name; they get boners by calling us "primitives" and using some dumb-fuck stalker's made-up names.

I have a web stalker, and it's way creepy. Someone with absolutely no life who even admits to having a search script which looks for my DU posts...he posts totally bullshit misleading headlines with my name in them which have NOTHING to do with me. For instance...

Atman trying to pay the rent.

Trouble is, the thread has nothing to do with "Atman" or my ability to pay my rent. Nothing. Absolutely NOTHING. But I guess it draws a crowd and helps build my stalker's post count.

http://demopedia.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x5635490

Apparently, someone over there is so in love with me that he has taken the time to create a search script for my posts, then uses them to build his own post count. I guess I'm some sort of celebrity over there since they banned me over a year ago. And they're still following my every move, even pretending to know what I do for a living -- but they don't, not even close. But my web stalker's fan club believe whatever he posts.

There are several other DU "celebs" which they follow. It's fucking freaky. I admit that I'm veering into that territory by even acknowledging their activities, but I had to finally say something. The Secret Service needs to check these people out. There are some serious mental health issues over there.

You are one of my favorites around here.

9. Just not all that "into" all the contrarianism around here lately
Is that even a word:rofl:

There seems to be a permanent contingent here these days who jump into every thread ..with both jackbooted feet..to be Mr/Ms Opposite..and who are quite eager to disrupt any discussion....so I'm doing other things these days..

14. I've ignored them for about a year, since they banned me.
They've been goading me. I used to be blocked from even LOOKING AT their site. They lifted that ban, hoping I'd come back. Even their admin admitted that I was very good for their site traffic.

and yes, it's comparable to a rabid fan who pleasures themselves while professing their contempt for you.

19. The point with the link is this...
It is linked to on that other site with a subject line that I am "trying to pay my rent." Of course, when you read the link, it has nothing to do with me or my ability to pay my rent. Nothing at all.

That's my point. They seem to be in love with me so much -- or relying on the extra traffic my name brings -- that this creepy stalker dude uses my name in ANYTHING he can think of, even if I simply respond to someone's post. Serious mental illness.

25. Um...okay. I'll try to walk you through it.
The post to which I linked has nothing to do with the subject line. That is the entire point. I provided a link to a post which the crazy mofos at that other site are saying has something to do with me, simply because I responded to the thread. They seemed to think they couldn't get traction if they simply addressed the subject of the thread, so they used ME as the subject of the thread, when in fact I had nothing to do with it.

STALKER.

That was my point. A fucking stalker claims to know me and know what I do for living (which he doesn't, not at all) -- even claiming to know my hair color -- and has a legion of fanboys who fawn over his every word. My stalker posts regularly with sub lines that appear to have something to do with me, but which rarely do. He does it because he knows it will draw clicks to his web site, apparently in an effort to earn a few dollars from Google ads.

That's it. Nothing deeper...except my stalker's mental illness.

The part that was confusing was that your link was to a DU thread.

It wasn't clear to me that you are referring to some UNNAMED site linking to your post on DU (an example of the post they are linking to is provided in the OP).

That gave me a headache! :)

The more we speak of it, the closer we get to a mod with his/her panties in a twist.

The link relates to the bolded headline above it.

You're confused? You don't see any connection? That is exactly my point. There is no connection whatsoever, yet MY NAME is used in their subject line. Apparently just to draw attention and increase clicks.

27. When I click on the link you gave, THIS is the SUBJECT LINE AND FULL TEXT of that post!
Subject:

Why is SMALL BUSINESS across the country not unified & SCREAMING for a public option?

Message:

Anyone here ever been a small business person? I have. Twice. With employees. One of the greatest hardships for small business is health benefits for employees. Since you are a SMALL business, it eats up a far greater percent of your gross.

How many of you out there are Employed by small businesses that offer squat in terms of benefits? You may or may not be aware of this, but I was told by my advisers that as a business owner I HAD to offer the same healthcare to full-time employees that I had for myself, if my benefits were run through the corporation and paid by the corporation. Which I was happy to do. In fact, we paid for the ENTIRE health benefit without having the employee contribute at all. This was twenty years ago and health care, while still a large chunk of the bottom line, was not as GROSSLY inflated a figure as it is now. Nowadays, that would be impossible. We tried to be the kind of employers we would want to have as an employee. The businesses basically broke even. We had the pleasure of 24/7 and just barely supported ourselves and provided employment to others, but at some point, we just said -enough!

Another fact about small business and healthcare: If you are in a fairly small group and one or more of your members has a serious or catastrophic illness, the rates for your little group will go through the roof! I have seen this happen as an employee working for a relatively small business. Some of the employees left the group because they could do better independently in the open market, thus negating the ostensible reason for being in a "group" in the first place.

All politicians love hugging and kissing the small business "baby". "We love you and your American sense of entrpreneurialism! Americans can do anything!" Yes, anything but provide decent healthcare in a small business environment for both owners and employees.

Note that this post does not show as having ever been edited!

Now please explain to us how ANY of this relates to you in any way? Your name is not in it anywhere, nor is the concept of "paying rent".

Now, pray tell... exactly what do YOU see?

29. I further note the following:
In the replies to this thread, I see that Atman replied (#11) with the following:

Subject:

Because they're screaming trying to keep their heads above water.

Message:

Get serious..."small business" in deep doo-doo. What are they supposed to do, pay all their employees for a day of so they can protest march? BIG BUSINESS has the resources and the CASH to cajole and bribe and strong-arm and lobby. Small business is small business. They're trying to pay the rent.

So now we have our first reference ANYWHERE IN THE THREAD to the idea of "paying rent". It came from Atman and NOT from the OP!

So then, the OP replies in what seems to be a perfectly reasonable manner with:

Subject:

I know all about paying the rent. But small multiplied many, many times is HUGE

Message:

It's pretty radical, but it would be FANTASTIC if small business shut down for one day to protest the expense of healthcare and the inequalities. Small businesses have unexpected closures all the time:

The power goes out, the streets are flooded, key employee gets sick with no replacement, no delivery, etc.etc.

It would be beyond imagining if a huge amount of small businesses would shut down for one day in recognition of the insurmountable hurdles they face when it comes to healthcare. They could call it "Small Business Healthcare Awareness Day".

Again, I ask you, just what your issue is with any of this? Or, for that matter, ANYTHING ELSE in that entire thread?

But I see in their latest update that the simple use of my name is second only to Skinner's in drawing traffic. Which is bizarre in and of itself, as I am not even one of the top tier DU posters. It's truly incredible.
