Too many things are coming up on the torture story to keep track of:
Edited on Fri May-15-09 10:44 AM by hedgehog
Among them

- testimony at a Senate hearing that torture was introduced against the advice of the FBI and CIA by an outside contractor!

I haven't heard which contractor or why a contractor was even involved or who gave the contractor authority over government agents!

- FBI interrogators were getting useful information using approved, legal interrogation methods. These methods require the ability to think and reason.

- No useful information emerged after torture was introduced.

- The Army personal charged with teaching personnel to resist torture explained repeatedly that water boarding has never produced useful information, but instead is used to elicit false confessions!

3. I don't believe that . The WHO was seriously concerned, as was
the Mexican government. We won't know for sure that we're out of the woods on this one for at least another year. It's possible that this looks like a dud precisely because everyone paid attention and reacted early.

On the other hand - it takes time for events to happen. Investigators didn't stop investigating torture because it was off the front pages. The two week delay for the Great Flu that Wasn't allowed the story to develop off-stage rather than being quashed on-stage.

6. Three schools shut down in NYC today because of swine flu -
vice-principle of one in the hospital in serious condition.

The flu that wasn't, IS.

But yes, the MEDIA certainly took advantage of it.

2. They pulled this shit during the Plame investigation:
Let's play SCRAMBLE! Throw a bunch of conflicting information out there to confuse everybody. The false information will play equally against the truth, and everybody has a "choose your own adventure" story that matches their agenda!

4. The difference here is that they have labeled Pelosi a liar. She now
must put everything out in public to clear her name. Pelosi has a bit more clout than Plame.

5. "Who gave cntractors authority over gov. agents?"
Well, KBR/Halliburton ( major Iraq contractors) comes to mind, and Cheney is the person who had the power to give orders to contractors and gov. authorities.
Also Blackwater and/or Triple canopy are huge war profiteers.

The US of A hired mercenaries to torture people.

amazing.

Needs to be on a bumper sticker.

7. I only heard a piece of this on the evening news and my jaw fell open.
WHO hired the contractors?

WHO was making money by owning a piece of the contractors?

WHO is all over the place now defending the actions of the last administration?

8. Cheney and Halliburton engineered privatization
Back in the early 90s. He and Rumsfeld are evil and we need an investigation into how much horror they have actually inflicted on the world, from their days of backing Saddam to now.

9. B. Clinton was also a fan of privitization
he privatized the investigative arm of OPM, the agency who investigates backgrounds and grants security clearances back in 1996.

The Corpos, have wanted to privatize the whole damn government for decades.

12. I'm referring to military privatization
That was about 90% Cheney/Halliburton and I'm still shocked that so many people just toodloo right on by that little detail as all of this crap keeps going down.

10. 2 different stories being mixed and confused: CIA torture and Military abuse
The military abused prisoners it held in jails that we know about. On the other hand the CIA Tortured detainees at secrete prisons. Do not let them confuse you by mingling the two. That is exactly what the Republican controlled press is doing.
