This BULLSHIT that has perverted the very real discussion of CHEENEE's ordering of torture into what the Speaker knew and when she knew it would not have happened if DEMOCRATS had shown any fucking guts and unity. Instead, we have a fool's chorus making this STUPID false equation:

On the one hand we have the mere possibility that Pelosi may have known something.

On the other hand we have That DICK motherfucker's plotting and ORDERING torture and reordering it and reordering it again and again.

What a SORRY FUCKING STATE OF AFFAIRS.

Yes, the media is involved in this. Yes, the great gasbag's moron audience is talking about it. But WE KNOW THEY WILL.

Where the FUCK are our spokespeople? Where the fuck are OUR attack dogs?

Shame on EVERY Democrat who had an opportunity to speak out and chose not to.

Even MORE SHAME on Democrats who bought into the BULLSHIT moral equivalency of what Nancy Pelosi **might** have known and when she knew it to the DIRECT FUCKING ORDER GIVER.

WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH US????

Gawd Fucking DAMMIT!

AAARRRRRGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

I feel, some days, as if I am in league with pissants.

edit to add: maybe some are allowing this FUCKING DISASTER to move forward so we don't have to talk about the OTHER SHIT that's important ...... like healthcare that meets the PEOPLE's needs and economic stimulus that stimulates MAIN STREET and not Wall street ............

1. Pelosi has only herself to blame
She may have been misled early on, but she *knew* the Bush regime was torturing long before she took impeachment off the table. Pelosi may go down, but she'll only go down if Bush, Cheney et al go with her.

And you know what? I'm fine with that.

2. **If** as you say ........
... Bush, Cheney, et al go down with her, I will be a lot less pissed off.

But I can see her getting osted by our own party. THAT would piss me off.

6. How in *hell* would Pelosi get ousted without having the BCF prosecuted as well?
I just can't think of a scenario where that's possible.

Of course, if they ousted her just for being a piss-poor leader, I'd be fine with that, too.

13. Not the same circumstances, but look at Trent Lott
He was made to go away.

It can happen. Pelosi's ouster would be political (she committed no prosecutable crime). The rest can only "go down" in court.

3. If she shows courage and calls the GOP's bluff, she won't go down

She should say this:

"Fine. Investigate ME. Investigate ALL of us. Let the chips fall where they may."

She'll be exonerated when the facts come out, and the GOP won't have any more cards to play.

5. Why isn't this thread about Cheney?
I see no reason to discuss anyone else at this time. Look at how far his public indictment progressed in the last two weeks.

Cheney. Cheney first. Pelosi can be tried after the republicans.

Because I will not be pissed off at my fellow Dems if he goes down.

Which is the point of this thread. my anger at the weak-assed Dems.

16. Cheney. Cheney. Cheney.
Be the change. Focus on Cheney. Lead, don't follow. Don't be a part of the Republicammedia re-direct. As for who you will be pissed at, how do you know they are Dems, weak-assed or otherwise? On the internets? Really?

Cheney. Cheney. Cheney.

We've never been closer.

Cheney. Cheney. Cheney.

If they attack Pelosi and ignore Cheney, well, I wonder who would do that.

Cheney. Cheney. Cheney.
Cheney. Cheney. Cheney.
Cheney. Cheney. Cheney.
Cheney. Cheney. Cheney.
Cheney. Cheney. Cheney.
Cheney. Cheney. Cheney.
Cheney. Cheney. Cheney.
We've never been closer, my malodorous brother in justice.

8. They have found our Achilles Heel. Dems are easily led into eating their own. War criminals walk.
Torturers are blatantly ignored.

It is much easier to marshall the Circular Firing Squad than to actually go after the War Criminals and Torturers who committed these acts.

They know the weaknesses of our party and they are exploiting them for all they are worth.

Idiots are allowing this to happen.

The right wing wind machine is spouting off, but no one is listening but their own dwindling minions. They have no power to force Pelosi to do anything. As Chuck wisely told us, don't believe the hype.

Pelosi is an utter waste of democratic party opportunity. At best, she's been ineffectual. At worst, complicit with neocons, war criminals, and their minions. Good riddance, IMO.

Once their media machine has turned GOP spin in "common knowledge", they certainly will.

Any Democrat who doesn't want to go down to this same line of attack needs to come out strongly for a Special Prosecutor and a real investigation into the Bush torture programs.

26. The thing is, a real, legitimate investigation of the issue would settle it.
And by "legitimate investigation", I mean a Special Prosector-- not some whitewash committee. This issue isn't going away. The Democrats can let themselves be tarred by it, or they can investigate and prosecute the people who are actually responsible, regardless of party.

Those are the choices. "Moving forward" without dealing with the issue is not an option. It's just too big.

28. Did she write the memos trying to make what had already been
done legal? No.

Did she give the orders? No.

If and when she became aware of what was going on, could she have spoken up? Maybe, but she would have been breaking the law, which I've said for years needs to be changed. 'In the interest of national security' has been a thorn in my side for decades. It seems to also mean, 'the shit we're gonna do and we don't want the citizens to be aware of.'

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't this what democrats need to be stating forcefully and clearly? And I've had my issues with Madame Speaker in the past, this isn't one of them for me, unless something else is revealed.

32. If Pelosi has to go first....
If Pelosi has to be first in line for the political guillotine, so be it. If she takes the fall because she "should have" known what was going on, then it will simply be much easier to take down Cheney, Gonzales and all the others who were truly responsible.

What she should have known is that her turning a blind eye, would be taken as weakness by the Rethuglicans. She should have known she was begging, simply begging for a knife in the back.

So, imo, she has it coming and as a bonus, maybe we can get a speaker with principles.
