Torture/Abuse Photos Ridiculed by Rush, Kept From View by Obama, Posted on The BRAD BLOG

These are said to be among the photos of prisoner abuse/torture whose release Obama has determined to block. Some of them were obtained, and posted several years ago, by The Sydney Morning Herald (who have more here).

Remember, these prisoners were captured in the war on Iraq, so even the disingenuous claims of Geneva Conventions not applying, cannot be used here.

As Drudge and Rush have (predictably) taken to ridiculing these latest noticed photos of abuse/torture of Iraqi prisoners by U.S. captors, I thought it worth running some of them here, so you could similarly see how "ridiculous" it is to be concerned about this sort of treatment of prisoners on our watch. I'm certain that no U.S. military family would ever object, in the slightest way, were their son or daughter treated this way after being captured by an enemy country.

1. Hey, America - be proud. This was done in YOUR name, on YOUR watch, and with
YOUR money.

As our own DUer gratuitous once observed (I'm paraphrasing):

"I paid for this with my taxes. I want to see what I got for my money. Let me see what I got for my money."

2. Photos worthy of the Stasi, the KGB, and the SS...

I voted for Pres. Obama with pride, with dignity, and with hope. He wasn't my first choice, but I more than supported both the man and his policies once the primaries were over; and I yet maintain a vast amount of support for him. I say this for the sake of full disclosure... I fully support President Obama and hope to see the majority of his policies enacted. That being said...

An absolute truth is not merely a partial truth, nor does it contain an inferred selectivity of deeds done. An absolute truth is not part and parcel, it is a whole; it is self-contained and independent of interferences. An absolute truth is both impartial to and unmindful of later consequences-- whether positive or negative in ultimate nature.

The most critical damage to our troops and our country has already been done by Mr. Bush: the original engagement of these very practices by us. Any and all justifications, excuses, and reasons for further violence towards our troops and our country by religious extremists (and by now, probably a few moderates too) are already in place and have been for quite some time.

So there is no adding fuel to this fire... because this fire is, for the foreseeable future, self-sustaining due to the decisions of the previous administration. The damage has been done, and any further damage is nothing more than a consequence of what has gone before.

I want the truth, regardless of how ugly it is. I do not want an abstract, or a court decision, or a statement, or a spokesperson telling me on Sunday morning that it would be impolitic to do release the truth. I want the ugly, violent, non-fictionalized, unbiased, truth. It can't hurt us any more than we've already experienced... and it would go a long way in helping.

There photos are worthy of the archives of the Stasi, the KGB, and the SS...

4. More pictures of the brave, brave Charles Graner
Who never seems to be anywhere near a prisoner unless they're shackled. And when he is, he's beating the shit out of them with a big grin on his face.

Rumsfeld chose his employee well.

7. Those are not the photos that are being withheld
Those photos have been public for years now, they have always been available on the internet.

It is pretty sad that so many don't know what the photos that are public depict.
