As Democrats, we do not have to make apologies for torture to each other. This is dumb.

This is our big chance to make things right with the entire world!

I mean, we need to apologize to each other, and the world, that it happened, but if we conceal it, we are adding to the horror, not making it better.

We are missing an opportunity.

This is now about Obama.

What use does it serve us to conceal evidence of torture, approved of and committed by the Bush/Cheney administration, if our agenda is Change and Making Amends?

This seems so simple to me. What am I missing?

We come clean.

We say: This is what Bush and Cheney did. We hate it. It is despicable. We own up to it, and we regret it was ever a part of American policy, but we RENOUNCE IT.

Sorry.

We tell the truth.

We apologize.

1. This torture issue is at the heart of America.
It must be sorted out and brought to the fore. Obama will lose his chance at greatness if he tries to ignore it. Keep up the drum beat.

Not only are we ( Obama and the people who wish him well) adding to the horror , we are ( by attempting to hide it ) OWNING the torture that was instigated, conceived and carried out by our political and moral adversaries.

Really, really bad judgement on Obama's part.

4. What we are all "missing" is real leadership.
Obama's and the rest of the DC-Dem "leadership's" complicity with torture http://talkingimpeachment.com/blog/Hall-of-Shame-Inductee----Barak-Obama.html">has been years long.

This latest rationalization for inaction -- about claims of "not knowing" -- is just the most pathetic in a very long line of willful self-delusions (or worse). The reality is that both impeachment and torture investigations are constitutionally to be triggered by mere suspicion, not any threshold of "known" facts.
