**I* Do Not Regret Having Left.

**I** do not give a fuck about what anyone else does, religiously.

**I** made this choice for ME.

**I** am glad **I** did.

**My** brush is exceedingly narrow.

2. IBTL
I, with the help of my offspring, decided that church wasn't the place for us. We don't regret having left, and there is a vibrant life after.

6. I, too, beleive there is a vibrant afterlife.
Indeed, much of the theology - but not all - that i was taught still means a great deal to me.

11. I meant that there is a vibrant life when we decided to
leave church and any and all theology. Peace in any of our pursuits in life?

In solidarity with all escaped Catholics...

You want LaBamba to talk to them? Just a little conversation, hmmmmm?

I have never, ever looked back.

Leaving the church is the best decision I ever made.

12. I left after the election in 2004
I just could no longer go along with this OR ANY religion that constantly built up the likes of GWB (Kerry being 'pro-abort') I don't really miss going to church at all (kind of amazing as I was 44 when I quit!) but if I ever decide to get a new religion, homophobia and the accumulation of massive wealth will not be any part of my new one.

13. Honest to blazes, Stinky....
I thought you were bullying everybody to agree with you and flee from churches.

It's a good thing that you came back to make yourself clear. I mean, who knew?

Like, whew, man. :smoke:

20. Quite a double standard there
I mean, you telling us all you're not a Catholic anymore was apparently so important to you that you resurrected a locked thread to repeat it loud and clear, and yet you say "don't tell me about it"? And, further, I suspect that if the first part of your post was true, the second wouldn't have been necessary to add.

18. Catholic baptisms, weddings and funerals are the best
which is why I never turned in my two-week notice. Maybe Catholic exorcisms too, but I've never been to one.
I'm Catholic once a year.

19. The Catholic Church left me...
And I am sorry they did.

My mother used to ask when was it that I lost my faith. I would answer that I had never lost it.
It was true then, and is still today. It was the religion I lost.

21. The Catholic Church left me, too. Then I left it. Glad I did.
When Vatican 2 came along, I was a ripe 14 year old, had taken years of catechism classes & then "poof", they up & change all the rules on me! :wtf:

I was old enough to rationalize that if they decided after almost 2000 yrs to up & change it, that it was now bastardized & I chose NOT to play the new game. How do you change the rules of RELIGION? I knew it was a sham then.

Of course I wasn't too pleased that they had already excommunicated my parents because they divorced, so maybe I was just looking for a nudge.

I have never regretted it.

I now consider it a real time-saving decision, not to mention how really free I feel compared to those I see who blindly follow orders from some "anointed one" based on a fairy tale. (That goes for all religion.)
