Reality Check Time.

There is no danger whatsoever that DU will lapse into being a site of sycophancy concerning Obama. The threads critical of Obama outweigh by a large margin, those in praise of him. Currently on the first GD page, critical threads outnumber those in praise of him by a factor 9. In GD-P, critical threads are also more prevalent than those praising him.

That's fine. There's a lot to be critical of. What's not fine, is the delusion that criticism of Obama is being stifled, or that we're in danger of becoming mindless cheerleaders.

You can criticize Obama, but not Bushco's version of 9/11? WTF?

2. well, I think there could be more leeway about that, but

if there were, there would simply be more complaints about which threads were allowed to stay and which were locked or punted to the 9/11 forum. And you can talk about 9/11. there's an entire (and quite active) forum dedicated to the topic.

When Obama does something shitty/worthy of criticism, there seem to be a lot of critical threads. When Obama does something good, there are more positive threads. Seems fine to me. And regardless, there could be more policy talk in general, but hell, I contribute to the Morning Joe whine fest threads a lot, so if we were to limit it strictly to policy talk, A LOT would be on the chopping block.
