US nuke plant event - N.Y.

http://hisz.rsoe.hu/alertmap/index.php?smp=&lang=eng

Area: USA, State of New York, Indian Point Nuclear Power Plant, Buchanan

The owners of New York's Indian Point nuclear power plant say 1 of their reactors has been shut down because of a valve problem. Entergy Nuclear says Indian Point 3 was safely turned off at 1:53 a.m. Friday with no release of radiation. It says there was a problem with a valve that controls the flow of water into a steam generator. The other reactor at the site in Buchanan, Indian Point 2, remained at full power. Buchanan is about 35 miles north of midtown Manhattan. Entergy is seeking 20-year license extensions for both reactors.

the odds will change if the 20 yr. extension happens. not in human's favor.

1. nuclear plants scare me
I lived close to a nuclear plant in the 50s which went on fire and released radioactivity. I don't like them.
