In his weekly WorldNetDaily column Pat Boon begins and ends an open letter to President Obama with a positive and one hopes sincere pledge to pray for him. Then the column devolves into an odd defense of torture claiming that:
May I tell you that my own mama inflicted more actual physical pain on me and my brother Nick – raising welts on our butts with a sewing machine belt when we got really out of line – than any of the techniques, including "waterboarding," that detainees of the U.S. military have endured

12. About "spare the rod..."
That's another verse that has been wildly and wrongly interpreted, and used as justification for corporal punishment of children. The "rod" in question is the same as the rod of the 23rd Psalm ("...Thy rod and staff comfort me"); both rod and staff were tools used by shepherds for a number of purposes, none of which included striking any member of the flock to effect 'discipline'. Those who still use that verse to justify clobbering children are, in my opinion, using their "faith" as an excuse to bully people too small to fight back.

It is not as if this is a grey area. We figured this out already YEARS AGO. No amount of rationalizing can change the fact that waterboarding is illegal and the US does not torture. PERIOD.

He is a "christian" after all, and I'm sure that he would under go hours of waterboarding in order to raise money for the homeless or the hungry or something.

So, Mr. Boone, will you be waterboarded for charity? I'm sure many, many DUers would love to contribute to the cause. But then again, it might be a bust, as I'm sure you wouldn't last more than a few seconds.
