Liberal media
Edited on Mon May-18-09 07:55 AM by underpants
Oct. 26th 2002 millions protested the war on Iraq in the streets of the US coast to coast. IF you were watching the news channels in the middle of the day you saw a 30 second report on it "thousands" they said. It was LIVE!!!....on C-Span
Feb. 15th 2003 The single largest protest ever in humankind all over the world and it was virtually ignored.

Neither story lasted until Monday-people just weren't allowed to know that it might be okay not to support an inevitably disasterous war.

Teabaggers get live daylong(+) news coverage and the protests at a private university in Indiana are the lead story in my local Richmond newspaper.

3. It is understood Liberals do not fight back and are easily pushed
aound.

The Tea Baggers are feared. There is fear the Conservatives
will create real problems.

The Liberals will just suck it up.

Someday everyone will understand this and just maybe the Liberals
will stand up and fight.

9. The point is that liberals WERE fighting back and their protest is RARELY SEEN in any attentive way.
You can count on two hands how many Democrats know that Kerry attacked the swifts in front of the Firefighters Convention on Aug19, 2004, and hammered Bush for hiding behind their lies fearing open debate about their services during Vietnam. Kerry's challenge to Bush to openly debate their services and the lies being spread should have been at least a weeklong news story. NO news network would broadcast the speech and few even reported the speech occurred and within weeks the talking heads were claiming there was never any response at all.

1998-2008 was the worst performance decade of American newsmedia.

They shouldn't be allowed to get away with that shit.

5. They Have Their Own Networks...We Don't...
Both events were astroturfed by the usual suspects...right wing operatives who know how to play the corporate media or are part of it. The teabaggers were nothing more than a PR stunt for Faux...that got them lots of publicity and ratings...lots of noise but little else. In many places there were more press covering the teabaggers than actual baggers or it was a mish mosh of Paulbots, Freepers and gawkers.

The Notre Dame "controversy" was beat like a dead horse for the past couple months on "Relevant" Radio...a very conservative Catholic network heard around the midwest. To hear them tell it, Notre Dame was going to allow Obama to do a partial birth abortion during the commencement and then give him a doctorate for it. All the rhetoric of hate radio radio...none of the facts or reality.

In 2002, the corporate media had major bloodlust...they had lots of new toys to play with and saw invading Iraq as a ratings killer. Protests with hundreds of thousands of Americans...not so much.

8. The same with the August 2004 protests at the RNC
A sea of humanity on Cspan. Completely ignored like it never happened.

In one way it was a good thing in that it crystallized completely for me how corrupt our MSM is and that I should basically not rely on them for any of my news. And so I don't. And lots of peole don't - they just see them as completely irrelevant.

11. Dean scream (sic) shown on TV more than 600 times in just four days
Edited on Mon May-18-09 09:37 AM by RufusTFirefly
They can make non-news into news and make real news vanish. I detest television. Even thoughtful, intelligent people I know get brainwashed by it.

12. Some seem remorseful but it's hard to forgive them.
Chris Matthews played the scream over and over and he was Mister 24 Swiftboat coverage. He's better lately, but that doesn't negate his role in creating the world we live in.

The NYT changed the course of the entire election whenthey sat on the wiretap story. Screw them! Now that I know that, I just can't look at them in the same way as a responsible news gathering organization. The news was the news. The facts were the facts. They suppressed them and gave us four more years of George Bush when he would have been handily defeated if the news had been reported when they actually had the story.
