Wanda Sykes gets her own show this fall... on... FOX?
cribbed from FOX press release this morning...

"FOX ANNOUNCES PRIMETIME SLATE FOR 2009-2010 SEASON"

....On Saturday, Nov. 7 (11:00 PM-Midnight ET/PT), late night will never be the same when Emmy Award winner Wanda Sykes returns to FOX to host THE WANDA SYKES SHOW (working title). The irreverent Saturday late-night series will feature Sykes' outspoken comedic perspective on current events along with topical, high-energy roundtable discussions."

3. Consider other Fox network shows
"Married with Children" or "The Simpsons," for example. The network has always done edgy humor along with the usual assortment of marriage porn.

Fox Network is completely different from the propaganda channel on cable.

I'm not surprised they signed Wanda Sykes, who's just a little too edgy for the stodgy big three networks.

9. Not to mention the F/X shows, which are Cinemax-type porn, like Nip/Tuck.
Talk about your edgy!

4. Seth MacFarlane explained it best on Real Time....
The network and the news channel both share the name Fox, but they're practically two different companies.

5. A buck is a buck. Rupert is all about $$$, and that's all.
Glenn Beck and Sean Hannity could have a threesome with an elephant (they probably have), and Rupert Murdoch wouldn't care.

6. I believe it was a baby male elephant, to be exact...
At least that's what Drudge reported.

7. She had a show on Fox in 2003.
I hope she has more success with this format.

Her personality is too strong for most sitcoms, so I think this discussion type format might work well for her.

11. I thought it was on COMEDY CENTRAL.
She also had a supporting role on Larry David's show.

12. "Wanda Does It" was comedy central.
"Wanda At Large" was on Fox a year earlier for 1 1/2 seasons

8. It isn't on Fox News
It is on their entertainment station. Considering that The Simpsons are on Fox, I don't find this particularly surprising.

10. People here don't realize that Murdoch cons EVERYONE.
He feeds amusement to the left, with Wanda, Family Guy, American Dad, and all of the sitcoms Fox ENTERTAINMENT pumps out, and he feeds poutrage to the right in the form of Fox Noose.

And he makes money off EVERYONE!!!!!!

He covers the waterfront. In reality, the only politics he gives a shit about are the politics that make him money. Make no mistake about that! If a bunch of Kitten-Owning Demi-Anarchists were running the joint, and they granted him concessions so he could make a bundle, his news arm would be praising the virtues of kitten owning AND anarchy!

15. Absolutely. Murdoch is only in it to show advertisements to as many eyeballs as possible.
That's the only bias he has. He just realized that conservatives were an undersupplied market, and made a killing by launching a news station that showed them what they wanted to see.

13. Fox is not Fox News. No shocker. They're aimed at different audiences.

14. There is a big difference between FAUX NEWS and Fox entertainment network
which includes 20th Century Fox studios. The Simpsons, Family Guy, hardly right wing shows are on Fox--among others.
