From Nuremberg to Gitmo

When words are not enough to convey the difference - especially when words are perverted by politicians - images are sometimes the only real witnesses to bear witness to horrors that can otherwise be relabeled, re-sold, re-branded.

That is why it is important that images be shown, not hidden - so the truth of the thing cannot be denied. It does not matter what you call torture if the images depict exactly what the definition is. That is why President Obama is wrong in not to release the torture photos. So long as those are hidden, the truth of the thing can be denied and people like Dick Cheney and his overly attached daughter can continue to argue that all the horror was all in our best interest.

How did we fall so far?
