The GOP's real intent with the "Democrat Socialist Party" title
For anyone who has been sleeping the last week or two, the Republicans are getting ready to brand the Democratic Party with a new name. They plan to call Dems the "Democratic Socialist Party."

As juvenile as this may seem, there's a method to their madness.

The name of the Nazi party was the "National Socialist Party." Can anyone doubt that the thugs are trying to make this (not so subtle) connection?

Every time we think Republicans have reached the bottom of the sewer, they always prove to us that it's deeper than we thought it was.

1. Mmm... I don't think many people will make that connection
for two reasons. First of all, few people know what the real name of the Nazi party was. Secondly, the fact that there are real Social Democratic parties all over the world, and that one of them was the Nazis main opposition in Germany during the early 30's would kind of thwart such an implied comparison.

I'm hoping they sew the rupubs for using the name which is close to theirs.

driven them out of power. They look like a bunch of juvenile, unthinking blowhards. This is not the sort of thing they should be doing if they want to look legitimate. Their base will eat it up, but it'll drive off anyone with a sense of dignity and two brain cells to rub together.

Really- who ever heard of trying to officially re-name the opposition party? It just reeks of the Bush era fixation on propaganda over policy, and affixing quaint titles onto things for political purposes.

they fail to understand that the German "national socialist" party was renamed "the Nazi party" and they never actually practiced Socialism. Fascist really.

I want to start referring to them as the "republic party" as in "the republic of n Korea." or the "republic of Cuba."

turnabout is fair play.

16. Small point of order...
The Nazis themselves (Goebbels, Hitler, etc) never referred to themselves as Nazis, or their actions as Nazism. The called themselves National Socialists and their actions National Socialism.

15. I wouldn't object to it being renamed the Social Democratic Party...
... but only if the party defined itself as such and acted like a proper social democratic party. There is a some difference between a social democrat and a democratic socialist.

I think referring to the pukes as either the Republican Fascist Party or the Fascist Republican Party would have the same effect, though, as there's no difference between the two terms.
